Passionately loving the world

Speaking about his own life, St. Josemaria explained that, "The life of a man who lives by faith will always be the story of the mercies of God. At some moments the story may perhaps be difficult to read, because everything can seem useless and even a failure. But at other times our Lord lets one see how the fruit abounds and then it is natural for one's soul to break out in thanksgiving." (Conversations, 72) The life of St. Josemaria Escriva, priest and founder of Opus Dei, was indeed a life of faith, a life holy and full of God—a life dedicated to doing God's will and bringing to the world the message God entrusted to him: "Sanctity is not for a privileged few. The Lord calls all of us. He expects love from all of us—from everyone, wherever they are; from everyone, whatever their state in life, their profession or job. For the daily life we live, apparently so ordinary, can be a path to sanctity: it is not necessary to abandon one's place in the world in order to search for God...because all the paths of the earth can be the occasion for an encounter with Christ". (Letter 24-III-1930, n. 2) According to Bishop Javier Echevarria, the current Prelate of Opus Dei, there is no longer any doubt that: 'Divine providence arranged that the earthly life of Saint Josemaria should take place in the 20th century, a time that has seen enormous developments in science and technology, which have not always, unfortunately, been used for mankind's benefit. It is necessary to recognize that, alongside admirable achievements of the human spirit, there abound in our times torrents of bitter water, which attempt in vain to quench the thirst for happiness in human hearts. Nevertheless, it is certain...that, with the message of the new Saint [Josemaria], "all the professions, all the classes, all honest social settings have been moved by the Angels of God, like those waters in the Probatic pool that the Gospel speaks of (cf. John 5:2 ), and have acquired healing strength".' Bishop Javier Echevarria Homily of the Mass of Thanksgiving for the Canonization of St. Josemaria October 7, 2002 http://www.escrivaworks.org/book/conversations-chapter-8.htm

Spectographic Filming Confirms Lion Face Shroud Of Turin The incredible discovery of a lion face head superimposed on a human face of Jesus Christ has been confirmed by spectographic 3D film processing. In the spectograpgic images the human divine face has been photographed merged into the lion face and also showing 3D elements. The right side of the face shows the open eye of a lion and the left side is a human normal eye and face. I am able to separate the images and the other photographs shows the human face with eyes open. The second face was originally detected by Fanti and Maggiolo in 2002 during the restoration of the Shroud of Turin on the back of the Shroud Of Turin.
Why Catholic

Here’s the thing. I cannot explain to myself, today, why it still fascinates me to be part of such a long and tangled tradition. I know the institution is imperfect but the story is still diamonds which flash in the light. I am not alone in my eccentricity, there are today catholic contemporary thinkers who find plenty to glean from an old story. When I hear an expressions like “ new evangelicalism”, “new age”, “new liberal” I pause thinking, is there anything really new? I stand on the periphery of the true Catholic faith because I myself feel rebellious wondering if there is something new being said today. I do not think it is new, it is more as I said, a diamond seen in a new light, same light, same diamond. Since Vatican 2, the attempt to repackage the faith in a more attractive way to a contemporary audience has been, quite sad and somewhat self-defeating. The lack of enthusiasm for the holy church makes me hesitant about being vocal about something “new”. For me, the very attraction of the Church was that it remained the opposite of “new.” People like me – admittedly, a reactionary – are drawn to the Church not through fear or obligation, but instead by the promise of “Expansive Eternity.” There is room for the spirit of innovation, even science is approaching the divine. The secular environment is littered with escapees from the organized church looking for space to explore what feels like spiritual and the other worldly. I believe spiritual Aw is not new, it has always been here, only the human “being” is changing. The Aw is becoming re framed, along with the language we use to describe it. The organized church offers liturgical learning and sophistication, steeped in tradition and easily approachable in many formats and disciplines. Catholics, adults and children continue to be attuned to the atmosphere of reverence when in church. Holiness is not “New” it is where we are called. The interconnectedness of spirit as we walk together is a dimension still unexplored. I would say Eternity, Oneness, Mind, Soul and Body are all being rethought in deeper formats. What is available in the world today for new insight is exciting and can leave you breathless. There is wonder and mystery revealed in what you have always seen but never noticed. It is “new”, you could not stay in the Catholic Church if it wasn't.

Biden: Jewish leaders drove gay marriage changes

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden is praising Jewish leaders for helping change American attitudes about gay marriage and other issues. Biden says culture and arts change people's attitudes. He cites social media and the old NBC TV series "Will and Grace" as examples of what helped changed attitudes on gay marriage. Biden says, quote, "Think - behind of all that, I bet you 85 percent of those changes, whether it's in Hollywood or social media, are a consequence of Jewish leaders in the industry." Biden says the influence is immense and that those changes have been for the good. Link
