Sociology is not history, nor theology. It's only the descriptive analysis, surveys, and cataloging of social groups and their beliefs not the ascertainment of any factual historicity or truth statements. Thus the teacher was being intellectually dishonest. We could expect, this dishonesty at a secular school, but that its tolerated by Catholic leaders, and funded by Catholic laity is amazing.
