Early Resignation of Moscow Archbishop Paolo Pezzi

Pope Leo XIV has accepted the resignation of Archbishop Paolo Pezzi from the Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow - an unusual move given that Archbishop Pezzi is only 65 years old and the Vatican offered no explanation for his departure.
InfoVaticana.com writes that the departure is "primarily due to accumulated personal burnout/exhaustion after years in an especially demanding post."
Leo XIV appointed Bishop Nikolai Dubinin, O.F.M. Conv., auxiliary bishop of Moscow, as Apostolic Administrator of the archdiocese.
Monsignor Pezzi has led the Moscow archdiocese since 2007. He has been a Russian citizen since 2011.
In January 2026, he declined to sign a statement by Christian and Protestant leaders in Russia concerning the alleged oppression of Christians in several countries, including Ukraine. A spokesman stated that Archbishop Pezzi did not sign because he had no authority to comment officially on foreign states.

“Pezzi generally shares the position expressed in the statement, but the internal rules of the Roman Catholic Church do not allow him to make similar statements on his behalf,” Gorbunov said, according the Russian news agency RIA.

Celebrated on the Feast of Our Lady of Pompeii, this historic visit highlights the beauty of Marian devotion, the power of the Rosary, and a timeless message of grace and redemption. At the center of this story is Bartolo Longo—a former Satanist who experienced a radical conversion and went on to found the Shrine of Pompeii. His life stands as one of the Church’s most remarkable testimonies: no one is beyond God’s mercy. Pope Leo XIV will pray in Eucharistic adoration, celebrate Holy Mass, and take part in the traditional Supplication to the Virgin of the Holy Rosary, continuing a devotion that has transformed millions of lives. In the afternoon, the Pope will visit Naples to venerate the relics of Saint Januarius, whose blood miraculously liquefies at certain …More

After destroying the town church, the Israeli occupation forces demolished the historic nun’s monastery and school in Yaroun, southern Lebanon despite the local Christians calls to preserve their heritage. Is this also an isolated incident?

12 Ways to Overcome a Scrupulous Conscience

DIFFICULT MORAL QUESTIONS: The good news is that scrupulosity is not incompatible with holiness. More good news is that the malady can be overcome. Here are 12 points of advice for doing so.
Most of us have experienced scruples in our spiritual life and some of us have found them spiritually crippling. St. Ignatius of Loyola
defines scruple as “when I freely decide that that is sin which is not sin.” The scrupulous conscience sees sin where there is none.
We should distinguish this from a sensitive or tender conscience. A tender conscience is a true conscience. It is sensitive to occasions of venial sin. For example, it avoids ever speaking contrary to what one believes to be true, even in small matters, so-called “white lies.” It avoids watching television shows that disrespect the Lord, his commandments or the Church, because one doesn’t want the images and blasphemies in one’s mind. It refrains from negativity, especially when speaking about others who are not present.

Ed Pentin, Diane Montagna slam Vatican’s reception of female ‘archbishop’ of Canterbury – Allah's Willing Executioners

Prominent Vatican journalists Edward Pentin and Diane Montagna decried the Vatican’s recent reception and celebration of the Anglican female “archbishop” of Canterbury as scandalous and “absurd.”
Montagna on Monday
quoted from Pope Leo XIV’s address to Sarah Mullally in which he referred to “new problems” that “have arisen in recent decades, rendering the pathway to full communion” between the Catholic Church and Anglicans “more difficult to discern.”
“Of course, chief among these new problems is the fact that a woman dressed in liturgical attire is now being passed off – and celebrated by the Vatican and even by the Pope – as someone who seemingly has valid Orders when she doesn’t – first because she’s a woman and second because she’s an Anglican,” Montagna wrote.
She highlighted the fact that Archbishop Flavio Pace, Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, had gone so far as to “bow” before her and make the Sign of the Cross “as though receiving a real …

The calm, the coherence and the logic of St. Joseph

by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
March, 19th 1976
“A Roman and Apostolic Catholic, the author of this text submits himself with filial devotion to the traditional teaching of Holy Church. However, if by an oversight anything is found in it at variance with that teaching, he immediately and categorically rejects it.”
The words “Revolution” and “Counter-Revolution” are employed here in the sense given to them by Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira in his book Revolution and Counter-Revolution, the first edition of which was published in the monthly Catolicismo, Nº 100, April 1959.
What was the occasion in Saint Joseph’s life when he practiced logic to a heroic degree?
It was the well known episode when he saw that Our Lady had conceived a child of which he was not the father. The Gospel mentions the matter. He was faced with an absurd situation.
On one hand, it was evident to him that Our Lady was a saint because her sanctity shone forth in every way. However, on the other hand, he faced …More

‘The Complete Visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich’ ~ ‘The bitter passion of our Lord Jesus Christ’ ~ part 2 ~ MEDITATION III, IV & V; ‘Arrangements for eating the Paschal Lamb.’

[Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich; XVIII-XIX Century; born: 8 September 1774 Flamschen, Coesfeld, Prince-Bishopric of Münster, Holy Roman Empire/ died: 9 February 1824 (aged 49), Dülmen, Kingdom of Prussia, German Confederation; mystic, Marian visionary and stigmatist; Roman Catholic Augustinian canoness]
Meditation III ~ Arrangements for eating the Paschal Lamb.
When the disciples had spoken to Heli of Hebron
, the latter went back into the house by the court, but they turned to the right, and hastened down the north side of the hill, through Sion. They passed over a bridge, and walking along a road covered with brambles, reached the other side of the ravine, which was in front of the Temple, and of the row of houses which were to the south of that building. There stood the house of the aged Simeon, who died in the Temple after the presentation of our Lord; and his sons, some of whom were disciples of Jesus in secret, were actually living there. The Apostles spoke to one of them, a tall …More

" The cup was pear-shaped, massive, dark-coloured, and highly polished, with gold ornaments, and two small handles by which it could be lifted. The foot was of virgin gold, elaborately worked, ornamented with a serpent and a small bunch of grapes, and enriched with precious stones."

The historic Église Saint-Cyriaque church in Montenach, France, was just set on fire. Survived both world wars but couldn’t survive diversity.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14,7-14.
Jesus said to his disciples: “If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us."
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me …
