The Litany of the Saints is a very ancient Christian prayer in which the Church militant calls upon the Church triumphant for help for themselves and the Church suffering. This prayer is of particular use as our fathers enduring all forms of suffering to bring to us the saving faith we now enjoy. Traditionally this prayer is prayed during a penitential procession on the Greater Rogation Day (April 25) as well as the Lesser Rogation Days (the Monday through Wednesday before Ascension Thursday). This ancient practice has been suppressed in the modern reform and the Litany of Saints, to my knowledge, is only prayed at the Easter Vigil and at an Ordination. Unfortunately, like the other prayers of the Holy Mass, much of this prayer was further edited in the modern reform. For example the petition “against the enemies of Holy Church” is specifically mentioned by Pope St. Paul VI's translation document Comme le prevoit 24 as being “contrary to Modern Christian ideas.” Thus it was removed …More

Matthew 7:17.20 "Every good tree produces good fruit, but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. Together, we explore: What it truly means to be Jewish according to the Torah The 13 principles of faith outlined by Maimonides How Zionism emerged as a secular movement The Jewish understanding of exile and the promised land The peaceful vision of the Messiah in Jewish scripture Centuries of coexistence between Muslims and Jews This is a heartfelt and eye-opening discussion that challenges common narratives and offers a glimpse into an …More
Filipino Traditions on All Souls’ Day: Faith or Folklore? Many Filipino practices during All Souls’ Day blend religious devotion with long-held folk beliefs. Below are some familiar customs and why they don’t align with Catholic teaching. - Setting Out Food and Drinks for the Departed Some families place food on altars, graves, or dining tables as “offerings” for their loved ones who have passed away. Why this isn’t Catholic: The souls of the departed no longer need material nourishment. Such offerings imitate pagan rituals and can open people to spiritual deception. What the Church teaches: Offer the Holy Mass, the Rosary, and prayers for their souls instead. - Lighting Candles to “Lead Souls Home” It’s often believed that candlelight helps lost souls find their way back. Why this isn’t Catholic: Candles do not guide souls; they symbolize our prayers and faith when offered to God. Proper practice: Light candles as a sign of prayer and remembrance, not as a mystical signal. - Leaving …More
