Rabbi Against the Cross

Israel

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch who supervises the Wailing Wall has said that Pope Benedict XVI should not wear his pectoral cross when he visits the site in May. Rabinovitch believes it is not appropriate for a Christian leader to wear a symbol of his faith at a site sacred to Jews. The rabbi has twice turned away Catholic bishops who refused to remove their pectoral crosses.

USA

Bishop William Murphy, chairman of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development of the US Bishops’ Conference has urged New Mexico Governor to sign legislation repealing the death penalty. “The legislation before you would help to begin building a culture of life in our country,” writes Bishop Murphy.

Condoms Are No Help Against AIDS

Vatican

Speaking to reporters during his 6-hour flight from Rome to Yaounde, Cameroon, Pope Benedict XVI said last night that the distribution of condoms cannot stop the AIDS epidemic, and "even aggravates the problem." The situation will require changes in behavior. The Pope reminded that the Church has been at the forefront of providing care for AIDS victims.

Saint Patrick is More Than an Irish Symbol

Ireland

In his St. Patrick’s Day messages, Cardinal Seán Brady, Archbishop of Armagh, has stressed that “Patrick has become at once a symbol of Irish history and of Irish heritage.” But he also added: “Simply to reduce Patrick to a symbol of that kind, worthy as it may be, without any reference to his own Christian faith distorts the truth and in no way does justice to the real stature of the man.”

I hope he does not take off the cross. If that rabbi turns him away because he will not take off the cross I believe God will cause punishment to come on the Jews, just as it has for the past two thousand years for rejecting their Messiah, the LORD Jesus Christ.

Didn't they pay the guards to lie and say that Christ's Apostles took him away? Didn't they pay the guards to lie and say that Christ's Apostles took him away? Yes, they did...so you see, they do fear, because they had never met anyone like Our Lord before, nor to hear and witness to His miracles. But they refused to accept Him, because they felt He wasn't good enough for them, even with their jealousies and envies. He wasn't what they hoped He would be, in spite of the obvious. They can rant and rave about the world never forgetting the holocaust, but nevermind that the Jews had put to death the Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords.

One never really understands why the Jews and Christians keep at loggerheads! Is the Rabi afraid of the Cross? Does it shame the race that rejected the Messiah? What power does this Cross have to intimidate, if this Rabi does not believe that Jesus is the Messiah? 🤨
