This was a Benedictine Priory of Nuns. St Ethedreda was the Prioress who shot this magnificent Church into stardom.
I do feel much pain in saying that it is Church of England now. However, there is a FULL Missa Cantata in the Lady Chapel (Roman Catholic) and recently, on the High Altar (the first in 400 years!). Continue to pray for the convertion of the England dear bretheren...
