The Slow Burn - The Now Word

or on YouTube
As of today, all the visitors over these Feast days have left, the house has fallen silent, and my energies return to this mysterious apostolate. It is entering its twenty-first year with nearly 1900 writings that span four pontificates. My hair is a little more gray, all but one of eight children that was at the beginning has now left home, and my eyeglasses have taken a near-permanent place on my nose.
To my surprise, these cold January days are being warmed by a renewed sense of purpose: that I am to continue accompanying you, my readers and listeners… like a crackling shortwave broadcast from the dying twilight of the free world.
A Challenge to Our Faith
How many are the prophecies of these times that have streaked across our digital skies! From the prescience of the popes over the past century, to Our Lady’s apparitions, to St. Faustina’s revelations, to Servant of God Fr. Stefano Gobbi’s locutions, to the Church-recognized revelations at Medjugorje, not to …

Identified a Cuban colonel killed in Venezuela: he was part of Maduro's security detail

One of the 32 Cuban military personnel killed during the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, which culminated in the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3, has been identified.
It is about Colonel Humberto Alfonso Roca, 67 years old, who according to social media posts was part of the senior command of Maduro's Security Device, serving as one of the key leaders of the personal protection scheme for the Chavista leader.
Images and references shared by the reporter and activist Mag Jorge Castro and other users on
social media indicate that Roca was not only assigned to the direct protection of Maduro, but he was also present at high-profile events, even escorting personalities such as Pope Francis or former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry during their visits to Cuba in 2015.

The case for annexing Greenland: The country is essential to America’s, and Europe’s, security in the Arctic region

The case for annexing Greenland

What do you think: is it manifest destiny that the United States acquire or at least exercise control over Greenland? That’s pretty much how we got Texas, California, New Mexico, Hawaii, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam and American Samoa. Then there was the Louisiana purchase. In 1803, Thomas Jefferson doubled the size of the United States, paying France $15 million or a bit less than three cents per acre for a land mass that is about 26 percent of the contiguous United States. And let’s not forget about Alaska.
A few facts about Greenland. It is big: 836,000 square miles. It is home to about 50,000 people, mostly Inuits. Historically, it has been seen as the semi-autonomous property of Denmark. It is much closer to the east coast of the United States than it is to Denmark – much, much closer if you travel from the 51st state, sometimes known as Canada. According to Donald Trump, we’ll get around to talking about the United States exercising control of Greenland in “two months,”…

Don't believe everything you read in the news. On the other hand since Russia's KGB works hand in glove with the Mossad it is likely there will be a false flag event and Russia is in on the planning! So there! Believe what you want but not silly prophecies from someone who "saw the assassination attempt," total fakery 101 folks!

Program for Leo XIV’s Consistory – "Working Groups" Like the Synod

On 7–8 January, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the first extraordinary consistory of his pontificate. Time is short and the cardinals are many.
Day One: Opening and First Session
Registration will begin at noon on 7 January in the atrium of the Paul VI Hall.
After a welcome coffee, proceedings will not begin until 3:30 p.m. in the New Synod Hall with communal prayer, followed by greetings from the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
Leo XIV will then deliver an introductory address and outline the work to be undertaken.
Three Sessions Over Two Days
The consistory is structured in three sessions over two days and will rely on small working groups, which will later present group reports.
This method was previously used during the meeting of cardinals on the reform of the Roman Curia in late summer 2022. Traditionally, a consistory was conducted in a plenary, centralized format, quite different from the small-group method now being used.

Some cardinals are more equal than others.

Fr. James Altman joins John-Henry Westen to expose what he calls a deliberate campaign to weaken Catholic truth from within.
He describes his “exile” as a warning to other priests, enforced through silence and fear, and explains how his new books aim to fortify faithful Catholics with Scripture and timeless doctrine.
The conversation also addresses the Vatican’s rejection of Marian titles like Co-Redemptrix, liberal bishops prioritizing illegal immigration over reverent liturgy, and attempts to form a “one-world religion.” Altman blasts these moves as spiritual sabotage, “rat poison” meant to erode doctrine subtly over time.

Father Tad Pacholczyk On The Morality Of Embryo Adoption
Father Tad Pacholczyk serves as Senior Ethicist at The National Catholic Bioethics Center and has a doctorate in neuroscience. Today he joins Kevin Nelson in the living room to chat about embryo adoption. He defines embryo adoption for us and why there is controversy around the topic, talks about how there is no official Church teaching on it, his professional opinion as an ethicist, his recent debate on this topic with another Catholic priest, what the points of his opposing position and what his reasons were, if a Catholic couple can choose this option prudently or if it is a grave sin, some alternatives to embryo adoption that still recognize the dignity of the human life of the embryo but doesn’t force a couple to engage in in-vitro fertilization, and where viewers can learn more about his work. Scientists Create Strain Of Bird Flu That Has 100% Death Rate In Mammals

Do these genetic scientists have a death wish for the human species or are they just plain stupid? This study “confirms lab-made hybrid H5N1 strain invades immune cells, replicates in human blood, spreads to the brain, and kills every mammal tested.” Didn’t we get enough of gain-of-function research with SARS-CoV-2? As I have written, the only way to stop these nut cakes is to take away their keycards and their containment suits, immediately escort them out of their laboratories, permanently ban them from any other scientific research for life, and then raze the buildings to the ground.” ⁃ Patrick Wood, Editor.
A September Science Advances paper confirms that U.S. and South Korean researchers have engineered a “Frankenstein” chimeric bird flu virus that is said to be 100% fatal in mammals, infect human immune cells, and spread throughout the body—including into the brain.

God is a Woman: The Feminist Theology of Sister Simona Brambilla

A year ago, the news surprised the Catholic world: on January 6, 2025, Pope Francis appointed the first woman to head a Vatican dicastery. The Consolata missionary Simona Brambilla was named to oversee more than 600,000 religious sisters and brothers (including 128,559 priests) worldwide.
No less unprecedented was the appointment of a pro-prefect, a position not previously provided for by curial norms in this case. Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, SDB, assumed this role, whose performance remains opaque.
The major secular media outlets cheered the news: «opening» toward women, «pink revolution,» «female empowerment» in the Church. The clichés delighted Francis, who dreamed of «demasculinizing» the Church, although he had already commented, without fear of falling into inconsistency, that appointing a woman to a dicastery would be something merely «functional.»
The new prefect had illustrious predecessors, such as Cardinal José de Calasanz Félix Santiago Vives y Tutó, OFM Cap. (1908-…

The Heresy of Modernism Continues to Grow and None of Our Church Leaders Seem to Care

First of all, what is the heresy of Modernism? It’s important to understand that this essay refers to the formally declared heresy of Modernism—not “modernism” in the artistic, cultural, political, or purely philosophical usages of the word. Modernism in Catholic theological doctrine, however, is indeed a heresy—a heresy that progressive-minded Catholics often dally with, and that tradition-minded Catholics have always avoided like the plague.
Modernism was present in our Church for a long time before Pope Saint Pius X officially condemned it as a heresy in 1907.
[1] Its presence in the Church had grown significantly during the 19th century and into the early 20th. The Church’s 1907 condemnation of Modernism as a heresy stifled its 20th century growth, at least superficially, for a generation or two, but the specter of Modernism never ceased haunting the corridors of the Vatican until Modernism itself broke forth big-time, in the open, in the Church’s teachings in the Second Vatican …

‘The Book of Questions’ – St. Birgitta of Sweden – Interrogation 8

[Saint Bridget of Sweden – XIV Century AD; Uppland, Sweden/Rome, Papal States; Patron Saint of Europe, Widow, Mystic, Spiritual Writer]
“Interrogation 8
First question. Again the monk appeared on his rung as before
, saying: ”O Judge, I ask you: Why do you permit gods to be placed in temples and receive honor as yourself, even though your kingdom is nobler beyond all else?”
Second question. ”Why do you not let people see your glory in this life, so that they may desire it more fervently?”
Third question. ”Since your saints and angels are nobler and holier above all other creatures, why are they not seen by people in this life?”
Fourth question. ”Since the punishments of hell are horrible beyond compare, why do you not let people see them in this life so that they may flee from them?”
Fifth question. ”Since the devils are ugly and misshapen beyond compare, why are they not visible to humans, for then nobody would follow them or give them their consent?”
Answer to the first question …More

"Answer to the second question. ”As to why my glory is not seen, I answer: My glory is ineffable and cannot be compared to anything in sweetness and goodness. If my glory were to be seen as it is, the corruptible human body would grow weak and fail as did the senses of those who saw my glory on the mount. Besides, because of the soul's joy, the body would leave off working and be incapable of physical activity."

"Answer to the first question. The Judge answered: ”My friend, I am God, the creator of all, who does no more injustice to the wicked than to the good, because I am justice itself. It is in accord with my justice that entry into heaven must be gained through steadfast faith, rational hope, and fervent love."
