The truly Risen Christ is always a new announcement.

During his first general audience after Easter, Benedict XVI told the faithful that they must let themselves be overtaken by the wonder of the Resurrection. The audience, in which the Pope explained the sense of faith in the Risen Christ, was held in St. Peter's Square after the Holy Father's return from Castel Gandolfo where he spent the week. Benedict XVI stated that the historic fact of the Resurrection is well documented, despite age-old claims that cast doubt upon or openly deny it.

"Illuminated by the Holy Spirit, the members of the primitive Church began proclaiming the Paschal announcement openly and without fear. It is this announcement, handed down from generation to generation, that has come to us and is lifted every year at Easter with new strength.

"Every Sunday the community relives the Lord's Easter and takes from the Savior His witness to love and brotherly service. Dear brothers and sisters, may the joy of these days strengthen our faithful adherence to Christ, crucified and risen."
