The third newly consecrated bishop is Bishop Giovanni D'Ercole, 65, of the Sons of Divine Providence. He will serve as the auxiliary bishop of L'Aquila.

Yesterday Pope Benedict XVI spoke of medieval theolgian John of Salisbury and said if John were alive today he would agree that the only equitable laws have to do with the sacredness of human life. This should be a wake up call for the 54% of so-called Catholics who voted into office pro-death President Obama. If all Catholics had voted with the doctrine of their faith President Obama would not be in office today. Our numbers in the United States population would have prevented this sad reality. This fact shows the ignorance and moral decline we have within our own Church that needs to be turned around quickly. Voting for a pro-death abortion candidate as a Catholic is NOT DEFENSIBLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES and to do so is to place oneself in the state of mortal sin unless the individual has diminished mental capacity and is unable to grasp the concept of life beginning at conception and that God is actually aware of our souls before conception! Any Catholic who would argue otherwise is a heretic and is in complete opposition to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Catholics need to tell their uninformed or possibly severely ingnorant fellow Catholics that they must vote pro-life ALWAYS to be practicing their faith. If a Catholic is unable to do this they need to stop taking the Eucharist or be in a continual state of Mortal Sin when doing so.
