Vatican City, Oct 16, 2013 / 02:08 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis has donated his Harley Davidson motorcycle to be sold to raise money for a hostel and soup kitchen that serves Rome’s homeless.
“It is a precious gift that has once again made us happy in feeling the closeness of our bishop to the poor of the Church of Rome. We are deeply grateful to Pope Francis for this,” Monsignor Enrico Feroci, the director of Caritas Rome, said at an Oct. 12 press conference.
The sale of the motorcycle will fund the renovation of Caritas’ Don Luigi di Liegro Hostel and Soup Kitchen at Rome’s Termini station. The two projects have operated since 1987 to help relieve the suffering of about 1,000 people every day, Caritas Rome reports.
Msgr. Feroci thanked Pope Francis on behalf of everyone who will benefit from “this act of hospitality and solidarity.” He assured the Pope that the poor will continue to pray for the “precious work that he is doing in the vineyard of the Lord.”

The Pope, or Bishop of Rome as he likes to be called, is probably just trying to teach by example, not so much showing off his charity. The Pope, or Bishop of Rome as he likes to be called, embraces teaching by example. This teaching by example is also shown in his dislike for the Traditions of the Papacy, and the Traditional Latin Mass, and the Traditional approach to theology, and the Catholic Faith as our Catholic forefathers practiced it prior to; say 1950s. The Pope, or Bishop of Rome as he prefers is not foolish in his speech, and interviews...He is Teaching by his example, be it giving away his Harley, or washing the feet of a Muslim girl for Holy Thursday. Be it taking away the Rights of the FFI to celebrate the Roman Rite of 1962, or himself not genuflecting . This is our Pope, and he wears what he believes on his sleeve. He teaches by his example. What you see, is truly what you get. Pray for the Pope, and do penance. Pray for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and offer the Rosary in reparation for sin. Our Lady of Fatima : pray for us

How nice! How Pope Francis -ish!!! If a certain person wishes with (dogmatically speaking) Christian charity to aid another person, e.g., give away his motorcyle or used toothbrush, fine, but it only remains "charity" until the certain person takes out an announcement in the New York Times and CNN to inform the world of the event. That act of said person was not charity, but the elements need to brag about his charitableness. "See here, I, yes, I and not that other I, I was charitble. Look at me and wonder about divine sublimity or whatever." I think we would all agree that a "show off" giveer is egotistical and not truely (dogmatically speaking) charitable.

Fill out "a certain person" with the name Pope Francis and I think we have a good match. This Pope preaches helping others and, when he does "good" things best kept in secret, he blurts it out to the whole wide world or those who manage his press image do it for him. The motto for the Pope is in reality: "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the most giving of them all? Me, me, look at me". (I bet we will find out that the Pope east cheap Tufu (?) and avoids all that "expensive" steak.) I am not impressed!
