Feminists in the ’60s and ’70s had a slogan that sought to politicize the household: The personal is political. The rallying cry was meant to challenge traditional family values and the expectation that women should be caring wives and mothers who looked after the home. Breaking free from the “prison” of the nuclear family was described as “liberating” for American women.
So-called “student activists” and “black liberation” groups adopted the argument for their own purposes, and protest movements sought out ways to invade Americans’ private spaces. The idea was to make people feel uncomfortable so that they were forced to acknowledge whatever “issues” protesters were pushing. Feminists, anti-war activists, and civil rights protesters targeted citizens in restaurants, movie theaters, parks, churches, and shopping districts. They made it impossible for ordinary families to enjoy ordinary days without being force-fed heaping spoonfuls of acidic politics.

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) – “The kidnappers are almost certainly criminals seeking illicit gain by demanding a ransom for the release of the young people they have captured,” Msgr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna of Kontagora, the diocese where several hundred students were kidnapped on November 21 by armed bandits who stormed St. Mary's Catholic primary and secondary school in the community of Papiri, told Fides. A statement sent to Fides by the Diocese of Kontagora reveals that 50 of the kidnapped children have managed to escape and have been reunited with their families. According to the diocese, “out of the 315 pupils abducted, 265 remain incaptivity, of whom 239 are pupils, 14 students, and 12 staff members.”
The 50 minors managed to escape between Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22. “These students did not report back to the school that they were safe; we were able to confirm their safe return home during follow-up visits and calls from their families,” the diocese stated.

As the patron saint of music, Saint Cecilia has inspired countless musicians to compose works in her honor, including odes, hymns, mass settings as well as music for her vespers, including significant portions of her Acts. Cecilia is one of those foundational saints of the Latin Church, who is named in the ancient Roman Canon and included in Jerome’s martyrology, the oldest in the Church.
Although there are ancient images of the saint, it is not until the later Middle Ages that artists begin to paint her with her signature attribute—the organ. In this article, I will briefly examine the history of Saint Cecilia’s iconography and discuss why music and the organ are such fitting attributes for this bride of Christ, who is herself an image of the Church.

Popular influencers with known identities are pointing out foreign fakers, most of which who have claimed to be Americans for years.

General Albert Pike's statue has long been a source of controversy, as have many Confederate monuments across the US which were erected decades after the Civil War.
The National Park Service announced in August its plan to return the refurbished statue, after Trump signed an executive order called "Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History".
Democratic Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents the District of Columbia, called the restoration “offensive to members of the military who serve honorably”.
