Bethlehem celebrates Solemnity of Epiphany | Shalom World News
Each year on January 6, Bethlehem solemnly re-enacts the journey of the Magi during the Solemnity of the Epiphany. This ancient tradition, led by the Custos of the Holy Land, unfolds within the hallowed spaces of the Church of the Nativity and St. Catherine’s Church, built over the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Amid prayer and chant, a solemn procession advances toward the Grotto of the Nativity, followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass in St. Catherine’s. The liturgy reaches its climax when three Franciscan friars, vested as the Magi, offer grains of frankincense and drops of myrrh—symbols of worship, sacrifice, and kingship—to the faithful. Although some countries observe the Epiphany on different dates, January 6 remains its spiritual heart, commemorating the moment when Christ was revealed to the nations and the light of salvation shone forth to the world.

Venezuelans Unite Against Trump and Zionism as Maduro Claims to be a Prisoner of War - Vaccine Impact

Venezuelans take to the streets to protest against Trump shortly after their president, Nicolas Maduro, was kidnapped. Source.
Comments by Brian Shilhavy
By now everyone has seen the news that President Trump sent a special forces unit into Caracas, Venezuela to capture President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and son.
It has taken me a couple of days to research all sides of this story before I could comment on it.
For those who mainly get their news from U.S. sources, let’s clear up one false claim that some in the U.S. media have been stating, which is that Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez participated with the U.S. in Maduro’s capture, and was installed as President to replace Maduro by the U.S.
This did not happen.
In fact, Delcy Rodríguez has condemned the actions of the U.S., declaring that Nicolás Maduro is still the president of Venezuela, and it was her own country’s Supreme Court that appointed her as interim president. Her first speech after this event is mostly …

Scottish Bishops On "Draconian" Abortion Buffer Zone Law - Envisages Criminalising Prayer

On 6 January, the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland published a statement addressing Scotland’s abortion buffer zone legislation. It follows the first person charged under the new law.
The legislation establishes exclusion zones of up to 200 metres around approximately 30 abortion facilities nationwide. Within these zones, conduct deemed to 'influence' decisions relating to abortion may constitute a criminal offence.
The bishops described the law as vague and draconian, adding that it restricts critical voices from democratic debate in the public sphere.
The statement followed the arrest of Rose Docherty, 75, who was detained in autumn 2025 for holding up a sign in silence. It read: "Coercion is a crime. Here to talk. Only if you want." Ms Docherty was standing within the buffer zone surrounding the abortion facility at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Ms Docherty was released after several hours in custody and later appeared in court.
The bishops noted that, when consulted on the …More

Vicar General of Next New York Archbishop Attended Homosex "Wedding" of Chancellor

Vicar General Richard Smith of the diocese of Joliet attended the homosexual “wedding” of the diocese’s chancellor, Robert Salvato, on December 13.
ComplicitClergy.com stated on January 5 that there is an eyewitness who confirms that the vicar general was in attendance. Additionally, two other sources identified the vicar general featured in photos from the "wedding".
Monsignor Ronald Hicks, 58, was installed as Bishop of Joliet in July 2020. On 1 December 2020, he appointed the pro-homosexual priest Richard Smith as vicar general and, in 2021, the homosexual Salvato as his chancellor.
On 18 December, Leo XIV appointed Bishop Hicks as Archbishop of New York. He will be installed as the new Archbishop in February.
On December 23, Leo XIV declined to comment on his controversial appointment of Ronald Hicks to New York.

US Bombed Seven Countries in 2025 as Trump Dramatically Expanded Airstrikes - News From Antiwar.com

2025 saw a major increase in US airstrikes due to President Trump loosening the rules of engagement for military commanders and launching new interventions in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
According to a report from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) released earlier this year, Trump launched nearly as many airstrikes in just his first five months in office as President Biden did during his entire four-year term.
If Trump’s claims of a Christmas Eve attack on Venezuela and reports that it was a CIA drone strike are true, the US has bombed seven countries this year, on top of the airstrikes targeting alleged drug boats in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Somalia
The Trump administration has conducted an unprecedented escalation of the US air war in Somalia this year, launching at least 127 airstrikes, more than double the previous annual record of US bombings in the country, which Trump set at 63 during his first term in office.

Iran is planning an attack in the middle of the night, probably with bio weapons. That's what was shown to Brandon Biggs in a prophetic vision.

On Epiphany, Cardinal Raymond Burke celebrated Mass in the Roman Rite at the Chiesa della Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini in Rome entrusted to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter. During his homily, he reflected on how, like the Magi, we may sometimes lose sight of our star and experience a sense of uncertainty. He believes that it is God's will for us to turn to the Church and those who represent Him among us. He added that Christ comes to us through his priests, who are sacramentally configured to him as head and shepherd of the flock in every time and place. He continued: "Despite their unworthiness, they receive the grace to exercise His pastoral charity, which is ever at work for our eternal salvation."

FSSP: For Epiphany 2026 in Rome, Cardinal Raymond Burke celebratd the Mass at “St Trinità”, i.e. Chiesa della Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini.

The theory of “oil imperialism” does not stand up to a simple review of the facts. The United States is no longer the energy-hungry giant it was in the late 20th century. Texas alone now accounts for around 43 percent of total US crude oil production. ...
Over the past two decades, while Washington was bogged down in the Middle East, the People's Republic of China has quietly and systematically built up political influence in the Western Hemisphere. ...

Maduro’s capture wasn't about oil

The image of Nicolás Maduro in US custody has inevitably resurrected the ghosts of foreign policy past. For the reflexively cynical observer, the narrative writes itself: a Republican White House, a Latin American strongman, and the world’s largest proven oil reserves. As with Iraq in 2003, the slogan of American imperialism and its ‘blood for oil’ foreign policy circulated on social media before the dust had even settled over Caracas. ‘The overnight strikes on Venezuela,’ declared the Guardian, and Trump’s neo-imperial ‘declaration that the US would run the country and sell its oil, have driven another truck through international law and global norms’. This is a comfortable, nostalgic critique, harking back to the heady days of 2003. It is also dangerously wrong.
Maduro was not merely a socialist pariah; he was a strategic landlord
To view the dramatic defenestration of the Venezuelan regime as a resource raid is to misunderstand the fundamental shift in American grand strategy.…

Dozens of Charlotte Priests Appeal to Vatican Over Liturgical Restrictions

31 priests of the Diocese of Charlotte have formally challenged recent liturgical directives issued by Bishop Michael Martin, submitting Dubia to of all places the Vatican.
The Substack.com account The Pillar reports that the priests’ letter to the Dicastery for Legislative Texts was sent on January 5. It questions whether the bishop has the authority to mandate the removal and prohibition of kneelers for Communion.
This a policy was announced in a “pastoral” letter by Bishop Martin on December 17. Temporary kneeling fixtures are required to be removed by Jan. 16.
Thirty-one priests are about a quarter of the diocesan presbyterate. They argue that kneeling for Communion is explicitly permitted by the General Instruction of the Roman Missal and part of the traditional liturgical practice of the Church.
Furthermore, the Dubia question Bishop Martin’s authority to prohibit certain vestments, liturgical prayers, gestures, and elements associated with the Mass of the Roman rite but …More

Roman Catholic Cardinal -
Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako
Louis Raphaël I Cardinal Sako [Catholic-Hierarchy]
The Eliya line was a traditionalist patriarchate of the Church of the East, originating from the 1552 schism, residing primarily at the Rabban Hormizd Monastery near Alqosh, Iraq, and maintaining independence from Rome while resisting Catholic overtures for centuries. This branch preserved its unique East Syriac traditions and Christology, eventually seeing most followers unite with Rome by 1830 to form the Chaldean Catholic Church, while the rival Shimun line continued as the Assyrian Church of the East
The East Syriac Christian Church (Church of the East) traces its founding to the Apostles, primarily
St. Thomas the Apostle, along with St. Addai (Thaddeus) and St. Mari, who brought Christianity to Mesopotamia and Persia, establishing the See of Seleucia-Ctesiphon, with traditions also linking Bartholomew. These apostles, particularly Thomas and …More

In Iraq, Islamists demand execution of cardinal over "political" homily

Cardinal Sako in Iraq receives threats after Christmas homily. Photo: al-monitor
In
Iraq, Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako received threats from Islamist groups after a Christmas homily in Baghdad. This was reported by Chaldean Press.
The reason for the attacks on the cardinal was his homily, where he used the word "normalization", speaking about the need for reconciliation and spiritual unity in Iraqi society. However, some Islamic leaders interpreted this expression as a call for political normalization of relations with Israel, which caused a sharp reaction and legal appeals demanding Sako's arrest.
After this, Sako began receiving numerous threats from Iraq and Iran.
Representatives of the Chaldean Archdiocese issued a statement clarifying that the speech was exclusively about internal peace and cultural development of the country, not about international relations. The document emphasizes that the homily had no political undertones, and the word "normalization …
