Counter-Offensive: The Italian paper “Il Foglio” has started an international petition to Pope Francis. It refers to the recent anti-Church report of the U.N. committee for the rights of the children. The petition asks the Pope not to allow that secular powers smear the Church and – quote - “to help us promote a counter-offensive made up of prayers, pastoral action and initiatives”. Sign by sending your name to appellofrancesco@ilfoglio.it.

Father Stephen Geofroy a lecturer in philosophy at the Catholic University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago has called for privileges for homosexuals to be enshrined in the constitution of Trinidad and Tobago. Quote: “We are citizens of a country and people have a human right to love who they want.” Geofroy could not answer the question, why the right to love dog, doughnuts and daisies should not also be written into the Constitution.

Catholic Faith Above Everything: Olympic cross-country skier Rebecca Dussault recently spoke to young adults in Denver archdiocese, exhorting them to put their Catholic faith above everything else in life. Quote: “Be Catholic first and anything that flows from that is a rich bonus.” The home-schooling mother of four spoke about her life and experience in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassatti, a fellow skier from Turin, became her patron saint on the slopes. She even wrote his name on her Olympic skis.

Ten Ways: Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput has recently written about ten ways to deepen our relationship with God. The first way is: start by listening to God. The others are: cultivate silence, seek humility, cultivate honesty, seek to be holy, pray, read, believe and act. The ninth is: nobody makes it to heaven alone. And the tenth: Nothing is more powerful than the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist.
