Anti-Catholic Lies: On Friday an inquiry on New South Wales clerical abuse Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox was published. It found that Fox was – quote - ''deliberately untruthful'', had ''exaggerated'' evidence and – quote - developed an “obsession against the Catholic Church”. Fox triggered the famous Royal Commission after telling ABC in 2012 that paedophile Catholic priests were being protected. He claimed a Catholic mafia in the police had rigged “sham” investigations.

Stop Witch-Hunting: Andrew Bolt has commented the findings about Inspector Fox in the Harald Sun. Quote: “We must stop this vindictive witch-hunting, and Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox is just the zealot to warn us why.”

Alarm Bells: According to Bolt alarm bells should have rung because Fox’s claim was so improbable. Quote: “As I noted after his second interview to ABC, there was something too gleeful about Fox’s denunciations of Catholics generally and Cardinal George Pell, particularly.” Bolt points out that Fox denigrated the cardinal three times as “Mr Pell” and he mocked the Church’s – quote - “antiquated rules”. Bolt is an atheist.

Messiah Complex: ABC Host Emma Alberici did not question Fox’s rudeness, but lauded him as a hero. Quote: “Now, it took obviously so much courage for you to come here.” Fox glowed. Bolt comments: “It seemed to me he had a Messiah complex.”

Too Keen to Attack the Church: Bolt asks the question: “How did ABC not sniff this out? Was it too keen to attack the Church, too?” Bolt quotes from a Peter Fox email to ABC: “If we can string it out and drip-feed, it will only give us longer coverage and a much better impact.” ABC answered: “No worries, Peter. Whatever you want.”

Hate Campaign Against Innocent Catholics: Bolt concludes: “Yes, the commission of inquiry did find some Catholic clerics didn’t properly report cases of sexual abuse. None was Cardinal Pell.” And: “Here’s the warning: The terrible sins of some clerics has licensed a hate campaign against innocent Catholics. Every witch hunt is the same — denouncers feel holier the wilder their claims.”
