Francis made a private visit to a Pentecostal group around a certain Giovanni Traettino in Caserta, Southern Italy. Traettino is a private friend of Francis. According to German Radio Vatican Francis said during his visit: "Among those who have persecuted and condemned the members of the Pentecostal community as if they were crazy and would destroy mankind, were also Catholics. I am the shepherd of the Catholics and I ask you for forgiveness for those Catholic brothers and sisters who were possessed by the devil and did not understand anything."

The RC Church was, as now, a second state power that cooperated with the government and the judiciary. The Inquisition persecuted many innocent people who were tortured and killed, especially women who were accused of being witches. Many communities of faith or preacher of penance, for example Girolamo Savonarola, 1452-1498, were uncomfortable for the hierarchy, because they took the order of Jesus Christ seriously and followed Him - even today.
