single desire for God, then the heart grows warm and the light of Christ begins
to shine and fills the inward man with peace and joy”

“The devil is afraid of us when we pray and make sacrifices. He
is also afraid when we are humble and good. He is especially
afraid when we love Jesus very much. He runs away when
we make the Sign of the Cross”

Fr Spyridon Bailey, who is based in Hertfordshire, England. His thoughts, and the thoughts of the
Early Church Fathers, will encourage Christians to persevere in walking the highway of holiness.

Little Bernadette, help me to follow your example to love God, to pray the Rosary,
and to do penance for sinners. Like you, I want to be close to Mother Mary,
the Immaculate Conception, so that with her, I can love Jesus more.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, pour out Your benedictions upon the Holy Church, upon its
priests and upon all its children. Sustain the just, convert the sinners, assist the dying,
deliver the souls in purgatory, and extend over all hearts, the sweet empire of Your love.

Saint Joseph, ever watchful guardian of the Holy Family, protect the
chosen people of Jesus Christ, keep us free from the blight of error and
corruption, and be our ally in the conflict with the powers of darkness. Amen.

In 1989, six monks were allowed to return to Valaam, an island located in the Russian lake called Ladoga. With the passage of time, the ravaged monastery & hermitages have been restored to
their former glory. The song sung by the monks is an anthem of love for the island of Valaam.

O most glorious Ever-Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ our God,
accept our prayers and present them to thy son and our God,
that He may, for thy sake, enlighten and save our souls. Amen.

If you like the sound of Russian choral music, the website Musica Russica has an
excellent catalogue of quality music. For anyone desiring to understand the Russian
soul, can I suggest the wonderfully written book: Everyday Saints and Other Stories.
