"When a Connecticut couple learned their surrogate mother was carrying a fetus with developmental disabilities, they offered her $10,000 to have an abortion, reported CNN.
Crystal Kelley, 29, demanded $15,000 to undergo a procedure that she claimed went against her religious beliefs."*
Crystal Kelly signed a contract when she agreed to be a surrogate mother, saying she would abort the fetus if the family wanted her to. When it was discovered the fetus had severe birth defects, Kelly refused to get the abortion, saying it was against her religion (but not after asking for a large sum of money).
