Pope St. Pius V died in 1572, having set forth the revised editions of the Missal and Breviary which clarified and united the many local variations of the Roman Rite. With some modifications and additions, these still are in use. His many activities in the service of Holy Church are recalled by today's Prayer, which stresses his care for the proper worship of almighty God. The reforms and restorations …More
Pope St. Pius V died in 1572, having set forth the revised editions of the Missal and Breviary which clarified and united the many local variations of the Roman Rite. With some modifications and additions, these still are in use. His many activities in the service of Holy Church are recalled by today's Prayer, which stresses his care for the proper worship of almighty God. The reforms and restorations begun by St. Pius V were greatly strengthened by St. Pius X, and are being brought to completion by the present Pope. In asking the prayers of this saintly liturgist, we should dedicate ourselves to his ideals of life and worship.
