Christ told us '' do not sin ''

@godwants
why is this that we love so much to first pay attention to us human beings, what we do and what we do not do. Pay attention how little today in the church is spoken about Christ, His Sacrifice and the sacraments, which are the only source of Sanctifying Grace for us and therefore the only means to get to Heaven. The homily is trying to turn away our attention from ourselves and to focus it on Christ and on what he did for us, despite our littleness.

@CiCi
yes. The only source of Sanctifying Grace are the Sacraments. Sanctifying Grace human beings need in order to reach their supernatural final end. From this follows that the salutary act, which is the means to end, must also be supernatural. S. th.I-II 109.
Our good works and prayers as good as they can be, will never be able to produce supernatural means (in this case the Sanctifying Grace) which could bring us to Heave. Therefore there was a need of God to come and make the salutary act for us (paid the supernatural price for our sins). Sacraments are our "Porsche" that he has paid for, so that we can drive to heaven.

If our prayers and good works are also able to produce Sanctifying Grace, why did God have to Send His Son to be crucified 🤨 ? Is he a masochist? 🤦 😲

Blessings to all 🤗

@Leone and lj Thanks for the answer "Keep close to the Tabernacle" This I try and do.
I was thinking that Father was trying to say something more,in his video. I hope you {Father Nay} might continue on this topic in a future video.
@ CiCi I think, you come off as combative when you post. Maybe thats why you got deleted. When I consider Father Nay's other videos, and this site that he has a large …More

@ CiCi I think, you come off as combative when you post. Maybe thats why you got deleted. When I consider Father Nay's other videos, and this site that he has a large part in: I am quite sure he knows the Traditional/Ortodox/Catholic Bible Commentary on this Verse. I personally think he was trying to elelaborate on the subject further.

Father Reto Nay: Please if possible, can you continue this lesson? I remember you did a Lenten series that was very good. I see you up here often on the German side, and am hoping we could hear more from you on the English side.

Try to enter into the spirit, not in words... I think this interpretation is biblical and very hopeful: if a sinner will be converted and will regret about his bad life - finally God will have mercy on him. But if the pios soul will fall down into a sin, God will punish him. So, we need to preserve our efforts for christian life - till the end! And our strength is Jesus Himself - in the Blessed Sacrament! Venite, Adoremus!

No Italian would be caught without good quality oil and would likely have enough to share.
Always keep some on hand.

I do not see how Don Reto's interpretation can be qualified as: "not the traditional or orthodox understanding of this gospel passage".
You say: "The oil is grace, obtained through prayer, the sacraments, and good works."
Let us be clear. The oil is the Sanctifying Grace, which is necessary for Salvation and which can be received only through the Sacraments, that flow from the wounds of …More

I do not see how Don Reto's interpretation can be qualified as: "not the traditional or orthodox understanding of this gospel passage".

You say: "The oil is grace, obtained through prayer, the sacraments, and good works."

Let us be clear. The oil is the Sanctifying Grace, which is necessary for Salvation and which can be received only through the Sacraments, that flow from the wounds of the Crucified Christ.
Our good works, dear Cici can supply us with other types of graces, which is the topic of another argument, but never with The Oil.

Don Reto is not trying to encourage us to do evil. Evil deeds we do anyway. He is trying to say that receiving the Sacraments is the only remedy for us.
