I believe I can speak honestly with you, Irapuato. I have some very dear friends who came to the states from Mexico. Some speak English very well while some are still learning. I believe I can speak honestly with you, Irapuato. I have some very dear friends who came to the states from Mexico. Some speak English very well while some are still learning. They are all very hard working and through a lot of sweat and perseverance they now own their own business, a small American breakfast-lunch cafe which I go to very often.
It was at that restaurant that we first got to know each other.

Tuesdays are a special day at their restaurant. Each Tuesday (after the lunch crowd thins out) I bring (on alternate weeks from the outside) either Pizza or Carne Asada Tortas for each of us as a little treat.

Here's what I am getting at. These friends of mine are MEXICANS. They refer to themselves as MEXICANS. They are proud of their heritage, their culture and the fact that they made it good in the states despite the obvious difficulties of language and, yes, even prejudice that they have faced and, to a certain extent, still face today.

Tell me, Irapuato, how long must Mexicans feel the need to call themselves Latinos? How long must Mexicans call themselves Hispanics? Who is kidding who? They are Mexicans and if they are not proud of their Mexican heritage then, I believe, that is their problem not mine and not society.

Tanti auguri di buon natale!
¡Feliz Navidad! e
Feliz Ano Nuevo, Irapuato.
