🤗 Good day Ira! Thanks! This has brought back many fond memories! Having read for my postgrad degree in Sacred Music at the University nearby, I spent most of my latter student life in these buildings! At the end of this video, they show the cloisters: near the ancient water tower is the entry to the library wherein one can see original chant pages and records of the Benedictine life there in Chaucer's time. The organum and musical culture was quite rich indeed - being so close to Continental Europe!

The liturgy is always utterly arrersting and if one did not know this was Church of England, one would think it was Roman!! They still do the induction of the new Canons and entirely in Latin using the ancient Benedictine Priory texts. (The Benedictine Priory of Christ the King.) AND, the entire ordinary of the Eucharist they do in Latin. Thanks to Dr Flood.

In advent, Sarum Chant is used (in Elizabethan English) according to the books of the Roman Church in England at the time of the Benedictine Priory of Christ the King (12-13th Centuries).

Thanks again my dear! 😇
