Only Knowing Textual Critical Theories Makes One Ignorant Of Christ.
So many people are trained in the Textual Critical methods pioneered by the Protestant modernists, they focus so much on theory that they miss the Christ. They know some unproved theories about the creation of the book, but never encounter the one the book points to, The LORD.

👍 I did the evening Program at St. Charles and probably tangled with the same person and others of that ilk. They never did not enjoy the pun on the JEPD codes and doing Textual Criticsm on them. Got cold stares when I asked to see their copies. Sounds like Gnosticism to me. Almost Psuedo Mormonism. Secret Codes no one can see. Got cold stares when I asked to see their copies. Sounds like Gnosticism to me. Almost Psuedo Mormonism. Secret Codes no one can see. I was mostly left alone as I was known Revert that had a few articles published. They did not know me and I was a bit of a mystery to them. I was there in 96-97 under John Saward, John Haas, Fr. Malone, Fr. Fred Miller, et al. Those were Halcyon Days. Haas and Saward knew where I was coming from as did Malone and Miller and a few others.

Unfortunately I had to learn a good deal of Exegisis, Patristics and Liturgy from Hot Prots (the Dominion Crowd) before I came home. When I was accepted back into the Church I was interviewed by a priest deputated by Cardinal Bevilaqua (men in my case are Excommunicated Latae Sententiae and must be "shrived" by the Ordinary). After the interview I was informed that I was the possessor of a rare gift. A Catholic Education I could not find in the US or most of Europe (at that time). The priest was very positively moved by my views of Scripture. We also studied William May, Cardinal Ratzinger, Danielou, Bouyer and a good deal of Eastern Fathers to boot.

Things are slowly improving but the "Hermenuetic of Suspicion" is still widespread. Most good priest I know do not know how to preach or use the text properly. I was TRAINED usign the 4 senses of scripture. Many priests I know have little to no clue of the existence of 4 senses, though they are right there in the Catechism.

I decided to ask the nun who taught me about the documentary hypothesis. I asked her about the Samaratan Torah, and since there was no interaction between those left behind in the North and those of Judah after the return from exile, and since Torah was composed supposedly in Babylon the North should have a torah only based on the Northern Source. (Since whatever they have should be based on the book used there, but not based on the other three sources.) Yet their Torah is identical to the Jews. (As in five books. It is as identical as the distinct Torah's found in the dead sea scrolls are to the Masoretic. Now there is another topic the distinctions between the Dead Sea Torah's and how they use the name of God Differently blowing the Documentary Hypothesis apart also.) Her response was well there must have been interaction. I reminded her there was NO INTERACTION, THEY HATED EACH OTHER!!!! Why would they use their holy book, she had no response. These theories are just that theories.

I love to tell my Modernist Friends that I did my Ph.D on Textual Criticism of the "J" Code. When they ask to see my work (some actually do! 🙂 ) I ask them to let me see the "J" code itself (or the P, D or E Code).
Some never get the pun and actually still beleive there are such fallacies that the "learned" consult to unravel scripture and come to an De-constructed non-conclusion. 🤦

I was trained by very sharp Protestants who were well versed in combatting this fololishness. Upon my return to the Church I was absolutely scandalised to find this "slop" everywhere (I was teaching Catholic HS)

CCC P. 112 1. Be especially attentive "to the content and unity of the whole Scripture". Different as the books which compose it may be, Scripture is a unity by reason of the unity of God's plan, of which Christ Jesus is the center and heart, open since his Passover.
