It's not apparrent what Francis means by "fundamentalists"--when he criticizes, he often resorts to caricature.

This was clearly a heretical statement in relation to the Word of God. That is a fact, not a defamation, like many other definitions and actions directed against the Catholic Church of Christ and those in it.
