A few years back, before we switched to the TML, I remember attending a mass at a local parish in my area, on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe- around Dec 12th. All of a sudden when the mass began to start a group of Aztec dancers began dancing up behind the procession, whirling and twirling, shaking the maracas and playing pan pipes. They danced up and all around the altar, giving the tabernacle a pseudo-blessing with feathers, and yelping in high pitch. The mostly, young people were dressed in silly Halloween style Indian costumes. My wife who is Hispanic thought, it was not only a mockery, but silly too.

A number of years back I attended the ordination of a young priest in our parish. After receiving I spent some time in thanksgiving and as usual ignored the noises around me. When I had finished I opened my eyes to the sight of two ballerinas dancing around the altar - it was so not in keeping with the spirit of reverence and adoration that was due the Blessed Sacrament. It looked gross. It looked like a mockery. That is my own personal experience of "liturgical" dance. - Blessings and thanks for the news again and again - Rene
