The wrong friend: In an interview with CNBC, U.S. President Obama was asked about the Pope’s recent comments that the Church allegedly had become too obsessed with gay rights and abortion. Obama’s answer: "I been hugely impressed with the Pope's pronouncements. He seems like somebody who lives out the teachings of Christ, incredible humility, an incredible sense of empathy to the least of these, the poor." He added: "He is also someone who is first and foremost thinking how to embrace people instead of pushing them away; how to find what's good in them, as opposed to condemn them."

Memorizing the Catechism: The U.S. magazine The Atlantic complains about a – quote – "new problem in Ireland: Where to find a non-Catholic school?”. The magazine explains: “As the country grows less religious, parents struggle to place their kids in classrooms where Catechism memorization doesn’t come standard.” Gloria.tv would like to know from The Atlantic the name of the Catholic schools in Ireland where Catechism memorization comes standard?

An act of false charity: Luca Volontè, a Catholic and Italian member of the European Parliament has commented on the debate on whether Communion should be withheld from Catholic politicians who support abortion or euthanasia. He said: “It is simply a falsehood to believe one can readily divorce one’s faith from personal involvement in public policy. To do so is to fail both God and one’s neighbour and stand complicit in grave sin. The Church teaches that pro-abortion politicians have already automatically excommunicated themselves. It is therefore an act of false charity not to make this situation publicly manifest.”

Remember Saint Thomas Moore: Mr Volontè added: “As Catholics in public office, often faced with the seemingly overwhelming pressure to submit ourselves to the party whip, we should in that moment seek inspiration from St Thomas More, the patron saint of politicians, who demonstrated with his life that God and morality cannot be separated from man and politics.”

I remember having to recite parts of the bible, never the Catechism..have to wonder about the 'Atlantic Magazine'. Just more anti-Catholic bashing.
