Education crisis in Italy.

Benedict XVI emphasized the need to confront Italy's current education crisis during the Italian Bishops' Conference's Plenary Meeting in the Vatican. The Holy Father noted that the youth feel like they have been left alone to face the important questions that inevitably arise within themselves, like the difficulties of their future. The response to this crisis must include high quality teaching with sufficient support for Catholic educational institutions and strong pastoral initiatives. The Pope restated his request for institutional support for the family, respect for life and to work to give hope and a future to the country with clear social and political plans laid out concretely and legally. The Church, he added, will do all that it can to help the country.
