The Legion of Christ was Blackmailed
The Legion of Christ has released a letter written to Raúl González Lara in January. González has claimed do be a son of the founder of the Legion of Christ who allegedly abused him when he was a child. The letter to him is signed by Fr Carlos Skertchly. Fr Skertchly reveals that González asked the Legionaries of Christ to pay him the total sum of 26 Million US-Dollars. In a phone-conversation González added: “If you give me the money, I will keep quiet about the truth”. Fr Skertchly’s answer was stern: “In no way can we accede to your request for money in exchange for silence.”

Next to the big old Protestant church in Blech, Germany, a synagogue and a mosque are to be built – the British blog Cathcon has reported yesterday. The juxtaposition is to show the "relationship in succession" of the three religions. Protestant Pastor Thomas Schöps talks about three sister religions. Judith Neuwald-Tasbach of the Jewish community spoke of a signal to the outside world. And Ercan Agirbas, the architect spoke of building bridges . Cathcon notes: No Catholics, as far as I know are involved in this project.

Recently Richard Harries, the former Anglican Bishop of Oxford, has declared that the “Anglican Church is the part of the Catholic Church which is open to the future.” He then justifies innovations such as women’s ordination, same sex marriages, in vitro fertilization and by implication abortion. Yesterday, Father Dwight Longenecker - an ex-Anglican vicar who is now a Catholic priest - answered Harries on Times-Online: “We are told that the Anglican Church is the church of the future“ he replies: „Has Harries missed the point that even in his own church it is the African Anglicans who are young, strong, bright and dismissive of his liberal agenda for women bishops, homosexual marriage and abortion? The Church of England the church of the future? Hardly.
Pope Consecrates Gaudi’s Famed Barcelona Church
Yesterday, the Vatican Information Service has confirmed that Benedict XVI will consecrate Antonio Gaudi's famed Barcelona church, the Sagrada Familia. The event will take place on November 7th. “This event may also provide a venue to hear Benedict speak on continuity and development as it relates to the liturgy and the liturgical arts” – the website “New Liturgical Movement” comments.
