Pope Francis, in the first extensive interview of his six-month-old papacy, said that the Roman Catholic Church had grown “obsessed” with preaching about abortion, gay marriage and contraception, and that he has chosen not to speak of those issues despite recriminations from some critics.
“It is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time,” the pope told the Rev. Antonio Spadaro, a fellow Jesuit and editor in chief of La Civiltà Cattolica, the Italian Jesuit journal whose content is routinely approved by the Vatican.
“The dogmatic and moral teachings of the church are not all equivalent. The church’s pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently.
“We have to find a new balance,” the pope continued, “otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel.”

I just can't get over how much explanatioin by some many people, other than the Pope himself always have to try and act as Apologists for the Pope to make up for all of the confusion has been getting out there... I just think that all of those Apologist that I listen to should just be Apologists for Christ and stick to the Tradtional Teachings of the Church and maybe just skip the Pope a bit if he …More
I just can't get over how much explanatioin by some many people, other than the Pope himself always have to try and act as Apologists for the Pope to make up for all of the confusion has been getting out there... I just think that all of those Apologist that I listen to should just be Apologists for Christ and stick to the Tradtional Teachings of the Church and maybe just skip the Pope a bit if he is always going be this ambigious, awkward and downright .....well...dumb. I really hate to say that but everytime I hear that said something contradicting everything that the Church as been teaching for millenia he just sound well....dumb.. We all need to pray for Pope Francis.

How are defending life and the sanctity of marriage disjointed? Is it unpopular to defend Church teaching and thus Christ's teaching in a godless world? yes. Will some people leave the Church because of it? maybe. Why do Muslims and Jews hold steadfast to their principles but Catholics waiver? Sometimes I wonder...
