Manipulations? Edward Pentin suspects on his blog that the Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops is again manipulating the Synod on the Family. On Saturday the names of eleven consulters of the Synod were published. Most of them are ultra-liberal. Pentin names the Salesian Aimable Musoni, a friend of Cardinal Kasper, Father Maurizio Gronchi a defender of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Father Michele Giulio Masciarelli a buddy of Chieti-Vasto archbishop Bruno Forte, the Jesuit Georges Ruyssen who wants Holy Communion for Protestants, or Father Giuseppe Bonfrate, a defender of gradualism. Pentin also observes that for a Synod on the Family, moral theologians are, so far at least, strangely absent.
Provocation: The Vatican has refused a candidate proposed by the Socialist French government to be the next ambassador to the Holy See, because he is a notorious homosexual. The proposal was a provocation as the Vatican refused a candidate on the same grounds in 2007 causing the French embassy to be vacant for two years.
Simply Revolutionary: The Communist mayor of Naples in Italy, Luigi De Magistris, has written an enthusiastic letter to Pope Francis for the occasion of the pope’s visit to the town on March 21th. De Magistris calls Francis in the letter “Most Holy Father” and – quote: “You are loved because you are simply revolutionary.” For De Magistris Naples is a “place of contamination of cultures and religions”. De Magistris’ party promotes abortion and homosexual marriage.
Archbishop Jacques Behnan Hindo, head of the Syrian Catholic Arch-Eparchy in Hassaké-Nisibi, Syria, has commented on the news that the US regime wants to negotiate with the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad. Quote: “This is an option that should have been taken already a long time ago." For Hindo this is – quote - "a necessary decision, if one really wants to find a way out of this tragedy which began four years ago". According to him negotiations can start – quote - "only if one avoids placing stupid and provocative pre-conditions to the interlocutor.”
