The Sisters of Jesus Our Hope live vows of poverty, chastity and obedience within a vibrant community life. Our spirit is one of joyful hope and humble servant love, animated by the Holy Spirit and rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our common life is very important to us. It is here that we grow in loving and supporting one another and in sharing our faith with one another, in order to be, as St. Augustine says,
“of one mind and heart on the way to the Lord.” Our way of life is based on the Rule of St. Augustine.
Our prayer life is centered on the Eucharist. Our daily prayer includes Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, meditation in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, the rosary, and spiritual reading.
Our charism, which is a particular gift from the Holy Spirit, is HOPE. Our life is centered on Jesus Christ who is our hope and the hope of all whom we serve in the midst of the fears and uncertainties of this world.
Our mission is to teach others about Jesus Christ and about His Church, and hopefully lead them into a deeper relationship with Him. We do this through our apostolate of evangelization, catechesis and faith formation of adults, youth, and children and according to Pope John Paul II’s vision for the New Evangelization. Speaking at World Youth Day in 1989, our late Holy Father said: “It is not enough to discover Christ, you must bring him to others.”
We serve in the diocese of Metuchen, New Jersey.
