Politics: Pope Francis has refused to meet the Dalai Lama who arrived yesterday in Rome although his delegation had asked for an audience. The reason for the refusal is political. The Pope does not want to upset the Communist regime in Beijing.

All Organized Religion is Corrupt: Michael Matt from the Remnant has questioned the Pope’s personal invitation to the godmother of Punk, Patti Smith, to perform again in the Vatican. Matt quotes Smith saying that – quote – “all organized religion is corrupt”. Matt comments: “If Patti Smith were in my town I would not want my children to go anywhere near her.” And: “Why would the Holy Father chose Patti Smith? You know what: I have no answer to that.”

Horror Story: On December 4th an Italian court has definitively acquitted 7 priests and 17 mothers and fathers who were for 16 years wrongly accused of children-rape, satanic orgies and decapitations of children. The bogus accusations came from a mentally disordered then eight-year-old girl. As a consequence, 20 children were permanently taken away from their families. Seven defendants died from suicide or heartbreak. The allegations were blown up by psychologists who used methods which now are considered illegal. In the meantime the 20 children who were taken away are estranged from their parents and refuse to meet them.

A Catholic: The Scottish singer Susan Boyle has talked to the Telegraph about her religion: “My Catholic faith has always been important to me.” And: “Going to mass and singing as part of the congregation is my favourite part of Sunday.” Or: “Without the church I really don’t think I could focus properly, because it helps put everything in perspective for me, especially as my life has changed so drastically.” Confession is for Boyle – quote – “a good way to offload and talk about any problems I have. It’s helped me become a better person.”
