The Second Vatican Council, for which we celebrate the 50th anniversary of its opening in October, marked a turning point in ecumenical relations. This was said by Benedict XVI in a speech to a delegation of the Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, which is in Rome for a traditional visit celebrating the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul on Friday.
