@Cannoli: Excellent post mate! This is the kind of stuff I hope to tease out of good repartee on this website. Thanks Cannoli for actually caring to go to the trouble of lengthy discourse. Unlike others who just resort to purility and unconstructive language.

The three points you raise are quite valid. It is the Church being the Roman Imperial Bureaucrat. Just listen to how the Bishops speak and the language they use. Most of them are some of THE most unimpressive people one can meet. Yet, they govern souls.

On the other hand we have the oft times one has to deliver the truth at the appropriate time. Just take Salvation HIstory as an example; Christ came in the fullness of time and not a second before. Therefore, some bishops prefer to choose their timing well. So they desire to stamp out evil, but, not all of them have the gift to choose the time wisely!

Then there are those Bishops who actually think themselves a Law all unto themselves. I think these Bishops who fail to be shepherds are the bane of our Church! These are to be prayed for most fervently!

Actually, exposing this type of disgusting action and betrayal serves a very important purpose in informing and motivating the faithful. “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”. To pretend that this kind of “filth” no longer exists within the Catholic Church is to do nothing. I will remind you that in 2002 it was not the hierarchy of the Catholic Church who exposed the ongoing sex scandals occurring within the Church here in the States. Lay people including aggressive newspaper reporters, victims and their attorneys and governmental state attorneys were responsible for publicly exposing the scandal. It was not our dear bishops. Indeed, some of those bishops were/are complicit resisting and still do resist investigations with unrelenting effort.

There is one additional point I'd like to make on a more personal level.

A couple of months ago there was a video uploaded that featured a deer (Hoppy) licking a little kitty while both were lying in a bed. That was it. I didn't see any relevance to Catholicism in that video and, for me, it seemed like the most senseless video I've seen at gloria.tv or any other Catholic site for that matter. However, it was featured receiving many views and recommendations.

I suppose I could have written to the administrators of this site and complained but I would never do that. Do you know why I wouldn't do that? I wouldn't do that because deciding which videos are featured at this site and which are not featured at this site is none of my business.

Having had a couple of pleasant interactions with the administrators, I am sure that he/she/they would respond to my objections extremely courteously in a genteel European fashion and would never be so blunt as to say “what videos are featured or not featured at gloria.tv is non of your business, Cannoli.”

Obviously, I am not an administrator. I am an American lacking European gracefulness so my approach is slightly more direct. Bottom line, mind your own business, ACL. If you don't like a video, avoid it. If you are unable to do that, start your own website where you can have absolute control over its content.
