Malta - Ricci: Hymn of Glory to St Helena (Birkirkara)

In Malta, each town and village celebrate a feast to their patron saint and this is done every year. Each feast has its own hymn or hymns.

Some of these hymns are musical masterpieces.

One of the very beautiful hymns in existence is "Inno di Gloria a Sant'Elena Imperatrice" (Hymn of Glory to Empress St Helena) which was composed in 1898 by Mro Raffaele Ricci and played by the Duke of Connaught's Own Band of the town of Birkirkara. This hymn is still being played every year during the procession.

To compliment this beautiful hymn, we're showing you photos of the feast of St Helena in Birkirkara Malta, most of them from the feast of 2011. Photos were taken by my wife, Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech.
