Divorce or separation is often turned to much too easily for couples who are in crisis.
Instead we must offer positive solutions, as in the association Retrouvaille, which has worked for more than 30 years at the service of couples in difficulty.
In his speech addressed to the association this morning, Benedict XVI praised the spirit that animated the initial desire of two Canadian spouses in 1977, stressing that when a couple is in distress or even is already separated, they should rely on Mary and have recourse to Him who made of two "one flesh”. In this way, they can be certain that this crisis will become, with the help of the Lord, a movement of growth, and that love will emerge purified, matured, and reinforced.
Your service, said the Pope, is a service that corresponds to the call of true disciples of Christ.
