The Vatican Is Not Involved Financially

Vatican

Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Holy See Press Office, voiced support for an new adult stem-cell research consortium. But he added that secular media outlets had inaccurately reported that the Vatican would contribute financially to the effort. The consortium includes researchers from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, the Istituto Superiore di Sanitá; the University of Salerno, and the Bambin Gesú children’s hospital in Rome. Adult stem-cell research is an ethical alternative to immoral embryonic stem-cell research, which involves the killing of human embryos.

Paralyzed by Political Correctness

UK

Now we know that a certain Anjoum Noorani, 31, was the leader of the Foreign Office’s Papal Visit Team which drew up a document suggesting that the Pope should launch his own range of “Benedict” condoms and open an abortion clinic, Damian Thomson writs on his blog. He continues: The Foreign Office is hideously embarrassed, because the insult to the Pope clearly wasn’t spur-of-the-moment schoolboy satire, but indicative of ignorant contempt for the Catholic Church. If the Papal Visit Team was so “clueless”, why didn’t the Bishops of England and Wales make a fuss before the idiot memo was circulated? We can only guess. But the Catholic Church in this country is (a) not wildly enthusiastic about Benedict XVI, and (b) paralyzed by political correctness.

Eating Chicken Makes Bold and Homosexual

Bolivia

President of Bolivia Evo Morales is considered a champion of gay rights in Latin America. But he angered gay-friendly organizations last week after stating that eating genetically modified chicken leads to both homosexuality and baldness in men. “The chicken we eat is loaded with feminine hormones. For this reason, eating this chicken leads to disorders in men,” Morales said. “In Europe, all men are bald, and it’s because of what they eat. You don’t see bald men among the indigenous peoples.” Morales made his comments during a recent climate summit in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Spanish artist Cuco Suarez, who is bald, responded to the comments by saying, “I am going to start eating genetically modified chicken to make sure I don’t start growing hair again.”

Be Glad in Your Bitterness

Internet

Terry Nelson has reported on his blog a very interesting quotation from Catherine of Siena’s, The Dialogue; The Way of Perfection. Here is the text:

"The more the mystical body of holy Church is filled with troubles now,
the more it will abound in delight and consolation.
And this shall be its delight:
the reform of good holy shepherds who are flowers of glory,
who praise and glorify my name,
offering me the fragrance of virtue rooted in truth.
This is the reform of the fragrant blossoming of my ministers and shepherds.
Not that the fruit of this bride needs to be reformed,
because it never spoils nor is diminished by the sins of its ministers.
So be glad, you and your spiritual father and my other servants, in your bitterness.

I think the bishops should listen more often to Damian Thompson 👌 and today they should also listen to the quote of Saint Catherine. 👏
