Cardinal Schonborn allowed Father Faber, the same who says yearly the “Western Mass” (video)in Viena with the support of the Cardinal, to say a Requiem Mass (video)for a communist in the Cathedral of Viena. It's all happening with the explicit approval of Cardinal Schonborn, who will be participating to some extent. So, I ask, is this yet another slap from Vienna for the Bishop of Mostar, and his brother bishops in Bosnia & Herzegovina, as well as Croatia, who do not permit the Medjugorje visionaries to have "apparitions" on church property?

People do not have to believe in Medjugorje and are not required as Catholics to even believe in already approved apparitions such as Lourdes and Fatima. The point I'm making is that if Catholics don't believe in Medjugorje they accomplish nothing be deriding the faithful that do. My parents and brother experienced Medjugorje firsthand and found it a Holy place. To mock those of faith goes against the very faith you claim to hold in being a Catholic. Christ would never mock those seeking His Mother's message or their spiritual strivings towards God.

kfarley, it's simply not true that Vatican has to or will wait until the phenomenon ceases It is true Rome will wait to approve an apparition but it can be condemned at any time. e.g. If a visionary reports that the vision told them or taught them anything heretical then it can be condemned immediately(Numerous examples in Medj). Sometimes men in authority don't want to condemn visions in order not to offend followers. Rome has condemned phenomena in the past before they ceased. Rome can easily say one way or the other what they think so far and reserve a final judgment for the future when it ceases if they are sympathetic. Anyway, truth be known, Rome was remiss in letting Medj get out of hand and they are afraid to stop it. I pray Cardinal Ruini will get the strength to do the right thing.

I'd rather have the poor families in Medjugorje making a living running hotels for the millions of pilgrims and people buying statues of Mary than spending money on pornography. The Papal Commission is in progress and when the apparitions cease the Pope's commision shall make it's ruling as it did in Fatima & Lourdes. For the uninformed Catholics out there a Papal Commision can not make a ruling until apparitions cease at an apparition site thus when the apparitions in Medjugorje do cease (which they have yet to do) the Pope's commision will disclose it's findings on the matter of authenticity of Medjugorje as it did when apparitions ceased at Lourdes and Fatima.
