Francis J. Parater (October 10, 1897–February 7, 1920) was an Eagle Scout, and a Catholic seminarian from Virginia who died of rheumatic fever at the age of 23 and was nominated for canonization (the process by which someone is declared a Saint) in 2001.[1][2]

He was sent to Rome for his Theological studies. He resided at the Pontifical North American College, which at the time was located in the center of Rome, near the Trevi Fountain. After only a few months in Rome he became very ill and died. He is buried in a Roman cemetery.
