Poor Pope: Bishop Rogelio Livieres Plano of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, who was removed last week from his office by Pope Francis, has published an open letter to the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops. Bishop Rogeglio stated that Pope Francis will have to answer for his decision before God. There have never been any specific allegations against Rogeglio. His seminary had about seven times as many seminarians as the much larger Archdiocese of Buenos Aires. Bishop Livieres is like Pope Francis from Argentina.
No Mercy: In his open letter Bishop Rogelio calls his removal unfounded and arbitrary. Quote: “Despite so much discourse about dialogue, mercy, openness, decentralization, and respect for local Churches, I haven’t have the opportunity to talk to Pope Francis, not even to clarify a doubt or a concern.” More than 60 graduates of Rogeglio’s seminary have become priests in the last ten years. Sign Of Gratitude: On Sunday former Pope Benedict joined Pope Francis at a ceremony in St. Peter's Square assembling more than 40’000 elderly people from over 20 countries. Benedict, seated, clasped his hands together and extended them toward Francis in a sign of gratitude.
