Fired For Defending Marriage
Canada
Canadian TV sports announcer Damian Goddard was fired from his position as a freelance announcer on Rogers Sportsnet. The reason: Goddard had send a message from his personal Twitter account backing another sports figure’s support for marriage. Now, Goddard is going to file a complaint with Canada’s human rights commission against his former employer on free speech and religious freedom grounds. His lawyer said: “Unless it is challenged, this 'termination after a tweet' threatens to set a dangerous precedent for all Canadians in this still-evolving world of social media”.

I'm not really sure what the argument you hold is.

If you are a patriotic Pole, then I think you have simply misunderstood this news flash. If you are a PO supporter, then I can only pray for you.

My very patriotic Polish boyfriend was talking to me about this priest and his comments the other day, and he's very proud of the priest for standing against PO and the government. We are both proud that the Vatican has thus far refused to censure the Ks. Rydzyk.

As to the points you made:

i. An easy mistake off the cuff. I know many Catholics here who refer to their Polish fatherland as 'án uncivilized, KGB-ridden country.' They only do it in moments of frustration with the stucture of the nation, not because they lack love for it. If pressed to elaborate on the statement, I'm sure they would qualify certain adjectives.

ii. Oh, come now! Don't you think that's quibbling?

iii. Hmm, as much as I love Radio Maryja, I do think it has thrown its support behind PiS. I grant that that party is the best to stand against the tide of modernism, but it is far from perfect.

iv. 'Totalitarian' regime, well that word may be strong, but only under such a harsh rule as that could politicians be labelled 'traitors' by the media and other politicos merely for wanting to know how their president and the entire right-wing elite died in a mysterious plane crash. Seems rather totalitarian to me.
