Hugging Pope: On Saturday, Pope Francis concelebrated Mass with a group of young Jesuit priests who, against Canon Law, were dressed as laymen or worse. After Mass one of them, Fr Nicolò Mazza, asked the Pope for permission to hug him. Francis hugged him very strongly and said: “This is indeed a hug among true men.” Then he recalled how as a Jesuit he was taught to hug his confrère with a certain distance. Directed to Fr Mazza he added: “This was not o.k. I liked your hug more.”
Countercultural Diocese: Last Saturday, Nashville bishop David Choby ordained nine men to priests, setting a statewide record. Nashville is ranked eighth in the nation for its rate of converts.
