"Why would you want someone else's Nobel Prize?" Q: "Yesterday, you accepted Maria Machado's Nobel Prize medal. What do you intend to do with it? Why would you want someone else's Nobel Prize?" Trump: "Well, she offered it to me...I thought it was a very nice gesture." Full video here: c-span.org/…nt/pres-trump-leaves-for-palm-beach- … A reporter confronted Trump Friday afternoon over his acceptance of a gift award that he did not win, asking “Why would you want somebody else’s Nobel Prize?” Trump has been foreshadowing that he would be honored to accept the Nobel Peace Prize from 2025 recipient María Corina Machado. After reporting that suggested her failure to refuse the prize contributed to Trump’s decision not to support her, Machado told Sean Hannity she’d love to give her award to the president. Machado and Trump closed the deal on Thursday at the White House, although the honor that goes with the award is non-transferable. The president took questions from reporters …More

Asked about the Mass in the Roman rite, Cardinal Jaime Spengler of Porto Alegre, Brazil, said that “the river doesn’t flow backwards.” He spoke with VidaNuevaDigital.com on January 16. The cardinal is president of the bishops’ conferences of Brazil and Latin America (CELAM). His main statement echoes the historically weak ideas promoted by Cardinal Roche at the consistory on January 7-8. Cardinal Spengler said, “Throughout history, the liturgy has undergone various reforms. The Second Vatican Council represents an enormous effort to recover fundamental elements of Catholic liturgical celebration. Nostalgic proposals do not help to promote what the Council identified as essential for the liturgy.” Furthermore, Cardinal Spengler offered a pointless definition of the Eucharist: “Liturgy cannot be understood simply as an expression of religious practice; above all, it is a vigorous expression of a lived experience of faith, both personal and communal - an experience of encounter with …More
Wisdom 1:7 “The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.” Psalm 69:9 “The zeal for Your House consumes me, and the insults of those who insult You fall upon me.”
1) "Reforms", yes. but the N.O. is not a reform. It's a purge. It's an emptying out, a replacement, not quite a confection as implied by it's creators or adherents, but more like a conjuration, applied by those more self assured than confidant, more visionary than inciteful, more desparate than diciplined 2) "Recover fundamental elements". One could argue the point, but no, in practice: remove and replace fundamental elements. 3) Flow backwards? Then why seek to "recover"? 4) "a vigorous expression of a lived experience of faith, both personal and communal". This could take volumes and in fact has. In short, it may be all of these things, but is it the faith [that was recovered]? Or something else; and if so, what is this expression saying? And from where does it come? And what has it produced? I'm reminded of something... youtube.com/watch?v=B4M-54cEduo
The world does not want people who are mentally healthy, who can distinguish good from evil, and thus act according to the principle: yes — yes, no — no. The system cultivates those who react to what lies in between. The simple principles passed down to us by Jesus Christ are unacceptable, and the worst part is that this is true even for people who call themselves Christians. No doctor and no pills will cure a lack of spiritual balance. A person becomes merely a perpetual patient of the healthcare system, which is good for the system but tragic in its consequences for the human being. Today we have millions of Christians who have accepted faith only emotionally — emotions that are fleeting and susceptible to the influence of evil. Reason, lulled to sleep in people by media falsehood and omnipresent propaganda, has lost its significance. Thinking hurts so many that the later collision with truth often ends in depression and suicide.
Pope Leo XIV met today with the families of those who lost their lives in Crans Montana on New Year's Eve The pope told the families: 'Your heart is pierced today, as was Mary's at the foot of the Cross, Mary, at the Cross, who saw her Son. Our Lady of Sorrows is close to you in these days, and it is to her that I entrust you. Direct your tears to her without reserve and seek in her the maternal comfort that perhaps only Mary can give and certainly can give you. Like Mary, you will know how to wait patiently, in the night of suffering but with the certainty of faith, for one day, a new day to dawn; and you will rediscover joy'

Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra in Ghana has voiced concern over what he described as a growing influence of homosexuality and gay culture within Catholic Seminaries in West Africa, urging Rectors and other Formators to take decisive action and remain faithful to the Church’s teachings on priestly formation. In his Wednesday, January 14 speech at the opening of the 12th Regional Episcopal Conference of West Africa (RECOWA) Rectors’ Conference at St. Paul’s Catholic Seminary, Sowutuom in Accra, Archbishop Kwofie urged those entrusted with the formation of future Priests to carefully discern and nurture Priestly vocations from the outset, warning that inadequate formation at the entry level could contribute to the emergence of homosexual practices within Seminaries. “I am going to talk about one thing that is growing up like a monster in the Seminaries. Please do your best to weed out people of such orientation from our Seminaries because it …
Pope Francis has advised that men with deep-seated homosexual tendencies should not be admitted to seminaries, a position he reinforced in closed-door meetings in 2024, according to multiple reports . While he has emphasized welcoming all people into the Church, he has expressed concerns about a "gay culture" in seminaries and the potential for candidates to live "double lives" Closed-Door Remarks: In May 2024, during a meeting with Italian bishops, the Pope reportedly said that gay men should not be admitted to priestly formation. He argued that there is "already too much 'frociaggine'" (a derogatory Italian term for faggotry or gayness) in seminaries. Reiteration in June: Reports indicate the Pope repeated this sentiment in June 2024 to priests in Rome, stating that while homosexual individuals should be welcomed and accompanied, they should not be admitted to the seminary. THEN THERE WAS THE VATICAN APOLOGY Official Stance: Despite the controversy, the Vatican affirmed that the Pope …More
