Cardinal Grech: We Need Women Calling for "Female Priesthood"

Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, claimed at the German Catholic Congress (Katholikentag) in Würzburg that both Germany’s Synodal Path and the global Synod on Synodality are inspired “through the same protagonist: the Holy Spirit.”
Katholisch.de reported on May 17 that Grech described the Church as a “symphony,” saying that synodality is about harmony rather than the sum of individual opinions.
Theology student Finja Miriam Weber, a member of the German Synodal Assembly, responded by asking who decides which “instruments” people in the Church are allowed to play. She added that, as a woman, she is excluded from certain roles simply because she is female.
After applause from the audience, Grech replied that the Holy Spirit is the conductor of the symphony. Before the discussion could continue, the moderator ended the exchange.
However, Cardinal Grech later approached Weber and told her: “We need people like you.”

Spanish PM faces historic loss in key Andalusia vote – Allah's Willing Executioners

Juanma Moreno has celebrated the “important victory” of the PP-A in the Andalusian elections this Sunday, in which it has achieved 53 seats and has been two short of an absolute majority. The popular candidate has guaranteed “four more years of stability” for Andalusia and has summarized the result with a phrase: “We have not got top marks, but we have got a very good grade”.
Moreno appeared before the regional headquarters of the PP-A, on San Fernando street in Seville, accompanied by his wife, Manuela Villena, members of his Government and party leaders. The attendees received him with shouts of “president”, while Kilómetro sur, the campaign song he himself performs, played.

Donald Trump's Federal Reserve chair has been confirmed by the US Senate in a vote that fell largely along party lines.
Kevin Warsh won confirmation on Wednesday with 54 votes in favour and 45 against. He will succeed Jerome Powell, whose tenure featured multiple clashes with the US president over interest rates. His term ends on Friday.
Warsh's confirmation was the narrowest margin for the Senate approval of a Fed chair since the process was implemented in 1977.
Only one Democrat, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, voted in favour to confirm Warsh.
Warsh is facing a difficult balancing act when he steps into the role, with President Trump having made clear he expects his pick to lower the Fed's interest rate at a time when the US-Israel war in Iran is driving up the cost of living.

A split Fresno County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to prevent library staffers from being involved in a Pride Month event next month, and placed what restrictions the body legally could on displays at library branches.
With the 3-2 vote, the supervisors denied a request from library staffers to participate in the Fresno Rainbow Pride event that follows the annual parade. The participation would have amounted to an informational booth at the event, which typically comes with a $125 fee.
Fresno Rainbow Pride officials said Tuesday they would waive the fee, but that did not prevent Supervisors Garry Bredefeld, Nathan Magsig and Buddy Mendes from voting to deny the request.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Department of Justice announced the first resolution secured under the Department’s ongoing national investigation into violations of federal law in connection with the provision of sex-rejecting procedures on minors (often euphemistically called “gender-affirming care”). Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) has entered into agreements with the Department and the Texas Attorney General that include commitments to not perform such procedures on children, which include the administration of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. TCH has also agreed to collectively pay over $10 million in damages and civil penalties and to dedicate millions to the provision of medical care to children harmed by the provision of such procedures (i.e., “detransitioners”).

Masses Prohibited During Argentinian Roman Rite Pilgrimage

Worse than Germany: The Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of San Rafael, Argentina, Bishop Marcelo Mazzitelli, did not authorize the celebration of the Mass in the Roman rite during the pilgrimage Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad, except on the final day, reports ElWanderer.com on May 14.
The pilgrimage to Luján scheduled for August 15-17 follows the model of the Chartres pilgrimage. Last year, there were about 3,000 participants.
Such restrictions are uncommon even in Germany or Italy.
The celebrant for the German pilgrimage in the Roman rite, held at Corpus Christi on June 4–7 in Altötting, Bavaria, is Bishop Marian Eleganti.
