When it comes to your parents, don’t take inventory based on what everyone else is doing. Don’t think: “Why should I give if my siblings don’t?” “Why should I help if no one else even tries?” Caring for your mom and dad matters whether anyone else shows up or not. And it’s not always about money. Not everything in life has a price tag. Sometimes it’s just being there. A morning coffee together. Lunch on a Tuesday. Helping with small things around the house. Noticing what they need before they have to ask. Simple questions like: “What can I pick up for you?” “What do you need?” “How are you feeling today?” But most of us reach for excuses: “I don’t have the money.” “They get Social Security — they’ll be fine.” “I’m not the only child.” “I’m busy.” “Work is crazy right now.” “It’s too far / too late / too inconvenient.” The painful irony? When parents are gone, suddenly the money appears. Suddenly there’s time. Work isn’t that urgent anymore. The drive doesn’t feel that far. …More

Sources have told the Catholic Herald that Cardinal Leopoldo Brenes did not attend the extraordinary consistory because he was directly barred from travelling by the Nicaraguan state, according to those with direct knowledge of the situation. The decision is understood to be linked to the continuing persecution of the Catholic Church in Nicaragua, where Church leaders remain subject to surveillance, restrictions on movement, and punitive measures by the authorities.

Journalists Raymond Arroyo and Robert Royal, and canon lawyer and priest Gerald Murray of New York talked on January 16 about the consistory of January 7-8. A short sequence, video below. Robert Royal commenting on Cardinal Grech’s contribution on synod: I think you hear that and you say, what in God’s name can that possibly mean? This is the gobbledygook we’ve been listening to for years about synodality and all this confusion. I mean, one of the things I’ve heard from sources is that many of these cardinals have said, "Look, we’re just confused about this. We’re tired of going over the same things again and again." These pronouncements keep coming out. When I read Cardinal Grech, I said to myself: This guy knows they haven’t gotten anything substantial done. You can try to preserve the illusion that there’s somehow a dynamic age of the Spirit underway, but it’s about to die. Raymond Arroyo: Well, he says there are good fruits here. He says fruits are blooming all over the place. …More

Fr Murray commenting on Synodality during the consistory: "It’s troubling that Synodality is still such a point of contention." And: "As Pope Francis envisions it, Synodality represents a continuing transformation within the Church."

These “independent commissions” do not understand the meaning of suffering, sacrifice, and self-denial, and call all of this “abuse of power.” It is entirely in line with the post-conciliar church, which is trying to eliminate the cross from Christ's message.
[Father Dom Lorenzo Scupoli – XVI-XVII Century AD; Otranto, Kingdom of Naples/Naples, Kingdom of Naples; (aged 79-80); Priest; Spiritual Writer] “Point VIII ~ Of the hindrances to a Right Discernment of Things, and of the method to be adopted in order to understand them properly The cause of our not rightly discerning all these things and many others is, that we conceive a love or hatred of them at first sight. Our understanding is thus darkened, so that it cannot judge of them correctly. Lest you fall into this delusion, take all possible care to keep your will pure and free from inordinate affection for any thing whatsoever. When any object, then, is presented to you, view it with your understanding; and consider it maturely before you are moved by hatred to reject it, if it be a thing contrary to your inclinations, or by love to desire it, if it be pleasing to them. For thus the understanding, being unclouded by passion, will be free and clear, and able to perceive the truth, and to …More
Strange that with respect to anything traditional Catholic post-conciliar hypocrites lose their usual manners and forget about "imperfect communion" or brothers/sisters in less than full unity. Logically, assuming hypothetically as truth revolutionary premises of post-conciliarists these sisters should be placed in a higher degree of communion with them than pastors and "orthodox" clergy they meet and flatter in their dialogue, and do not dare to call those pastors and clergy "schismatics".
Because the Church is in free fall, chaos and confusion I believe these nuns are doing the best they can. They are not theologians, but are praying and not rioting, and it appears their congregation is growing.
