Saint John Damascene | Defender of Holy Images & Doctor of the Church | Feast Day: December 4 Saint John Damascene (c. 676–749) was a brilliant priest, monk, and writer who lived in Damascus and later in the monastery of Mar Saba near Jerusalem. His feast day is celebrated on December 4. He is known for many amazing things: Defending the use of holy images (icons) when others wanted to destroy them Writing beautiful hymns and prayers used in the Church Explaining the Catholic faith clearly so everyone could understand Living a peaceful, prayerful life as a monk John lived during a time when the emperor wanted all religious images destroyed. But John boldly defended the tradition, teaching that images help us love and remember Jesus, Mary, and the saints. Because of this, he is honoured as a great Doctor of the Church — a teacher whose writings help us understand God. He is also the patron saint of pharmacists, icon painters, and theology students, because of his love for …More

Archbishop Georg Gänswein, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Baltic States, has renewed his call for a peaceful approach to the Roman Rite. In a press release, the Swiss broadcaster K-TV announced that the full interview will air on Sunday. In it, Archbishop Gänswein comments on Pope Francis’ 2021 motu proprio Traditionis custodes. He argued that the Church should once again consider the pastoral approach adopted by Pope Benedict XVI in 'Summorum Pontificum': "I consider Pope Benedict’s wise regulation to be the right path — and this path should be continued without burdens or restrictions," said Monsignor Gänswein. He added that he hopes Pope Francis will continue the pacification of this thorny issue. Archbishop Gänswein also expressed his personal desire to see a formal beatification process opened for the late Pope Benedict XVI. #newsNyyjolwslt
Archbishop Gänswein made those statements in January 2023. I wonder if hestill feels the same way today. Perhaps he does, but "flexibility" has always been one of the strong suits of the Conciliarists.
“I consider Pope Benedict’s wise regulation to be the right path — and this path should be continued without burdens, without restrictions,” Gänswein said. He added that he hopes Pope Leo XIV will “continue the pacification of this thorny issue”

Saint Sabas the Sanctified |Founder of Holy Monasteries | Feast Day: December 5 | Catechism for Kids Saint Sabas the Sanctified (439–532 AD) was one of the greatest early monks of the Church and a major leader of Eastern Christian monasticism. Born in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey), he entered monastic life as a young boy and grew into a wise, peaceful, and deeply holy man. Saint Sabas travelled to Palestine and founded several monasteries, including the famous Great Lavra of Saint Sabas (Mar Saba) in the Kidron Valley. This monastery is still active after over 1,500 years, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited monasteries in the world. The monks there still follow many of the ancient customs he established! Sabas spent much of his life in prayer, fasting, silence, and service. Kings, bishops, and emperors came to him for wisdom because of his strong faith and gentle heart. He also defended the true teachings of the Church during times of confusion and helped bring peace …More
In a Wednesday press release, the National Federation of Women’s Institutes announced that in light of a recent United Kingdom Supreme Court ruling, men who “identify” as women would no longer be considered for membership within the organization. Women’s Institutes CEO Melissa Green emphasized her reluctance to make this decision. “It is with the utmost regret and sadness that we must announce that, from April 2026, we can no longer offer formal membership to transgender women,” stated Green. “As an organisation that has proudly welcomed transgender women [sic] into our membership for more than 40 years, this is not something we would do unless we felt that we had no other choice.” The decision follows the UK Supreme Court’s April ruling, which confirmed unanimously that, under the law, the term “woman” refers to biological females. The decision drew considerable pushback from LGBT activists throughout the UK, despite the severe consequences faced by biological females of having …
While wars are being made and helping others to start or participate in wars. This man is bringing joy to disabled children in Russia. Visiting Orphans and hospitals, disabled Vets and the elderly. He is all over Russia deeply involved with everyone in Russia that he can be. This young man had a wish come true when President Putin chose a card with his wish on it. He was invited to the Kremlin to have tea and cookies along with his brother and father. Then he was taken up into a helicopter with his brother, I believe over St. Petersburg Fulfilling his wish. That was back in 2017. He has a rare bone disease which I forgot the name of. He is now a young man. Late teens early 20's.
Can you imagine if we could have a President Like Putin? Who actually loves and cares for his people. The things I see, the places he goes to just to meet and talk to children and citizens is unreal. I seriously don't understand how he does it. Even if he doesn't take a vacation every month like most. I can't imagine how he does all he does. I guess it's for his deep love for his people and country that pushes him.
While some presidents constantly take vacations and every Sunday take the day off to golf and relax. President Putin took one vacation camping in Siberia! No fancy hotels with large comfortable beds. Just a small cabin and a cot. No waiters or servants serving him. And no fancy restaurants. He went fishing and cooked his own catch. Picked and ate wild mushrooms and collected rare herbs. and went hiking. That is what he called a vacation! Ask anyone in Russia and they will tell you. He doesn't take vacations (except the one I posted) and even works on his birthday. Putin on vacation in Siberia
Bishop Erik Varden: chastity is integrity, "to harmonize my carnal desires towards life in Christ" Convert of Lutheranism and Norwegian traps, one of his last books is about the virtue of chastity. Monsignor Erik Varden, OCS [Cistercian Order of the Cistercian Order of the Stense Of Observance] is bishop of Trondheim, Norway. Baptized in the Lutheran Church, which in Norway was the official Church until 2012, I grew up in a family without a very explicit Christian practice. My religious search began at the age of 14 or 15, caused by an inner thirst, fueled by literature and music. I was 17 years old when I first visited a monastery, a little by chance. Monastic life scared me a little because of its radicalism; at the same time, it fascinated me deeply. During my first year in Cambridge, a Marist priest, professor of Irish history, accompanied my conversion to Catholicism: we read together all the documents of the Second Vatican Council, an excellent preparation. I stayed at the university …More
Rome has shown legitimate liturgical flexibility concerning the filioque—omitting it at Nicaea, and permitting Eastern-rite Catholics to profess the Creed without it in keeping with the received tradition of their rites—but papal infallibility cannot be relegated to a negotiable adaptation or cultural variance.
In his homily during the Divine Liturgy in Istanbul on 30 November, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew referred to the theological differences between Orthodoxy and the Church. He referred to the Apostle Andrew as the founder of a distinct church, and identified Catholic dogmas as an obstacle to achieving full unity. The quotes: - "As successors of the two holy Apostles [Andrew and Peter], the founders of our respective Churches, we feel bound by ties of spiritual brotherhood." - "We can only pray that issues such as the filioque and infallibility will be resolved such that their understanding no longer serve as stumbling blocks to the communion of our Churches." #newsKhlgvfjdnl
Police suspect Croatian nun injured herself: Croatian police believe that a Zagreb nun, Sister Marija Tatjana Zrno, 35, injured herself and falsely reported an attack. After a four-day investigation, police announced they will file a criminal complaint against the nun for falsely reporting a crime. Sister Zrno had claimed an unknown perpetrator stabbed her in the Malešnica neighborhood on November 28, after which she was treated for non-life-threatening abdominal injuries at the Sisters of Charity Hospital. Police say their investigation confirmed she bought the knife herself at a store in Zagreb and inflicted the wound on her own. She was discharged from the hospital on December 1. Police also refuted media claims that the attacker was a migrant who shouted “Allahu Akbar,” stating these reports were false.

Catholic bishops have no right to micro-manage specific actions carried out by members of our military services. Six Democrat lawmakers, who are also veterans of military services, have come under fire for issuing a video encouraging members of the U.S. military services to disobey so-called “illegal” orders issued by President Trump. The Pentagon is now considering recalling some of these lawmakers to have them formally court-martialed. The Pentagon may need to expand its list of potential court-martials to include Archbishop Timothy Broglio who heads-up the Catholic Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA. Religious News Services is reporting that that Archbishop Broglio has now issued a statement appears to echo Democrats’ call for military members to disobey their orders: Archbishop Timothy Broglio said that an order to kill survivors of an attack by U.S. forces on a boat in the Caribbean would be wrong if they posed no immediate danger to those forces. To deliberately kill …
Smuggling deadly drugs into our nation is an abomination, and against our sovereignty. Other means were attempted to stop the flow, and at a last resort, Trump decided to bomb the drug boats. The smugglers were warned so they are committing suicide by carrying drugs destined to the United States. Just as warning signs are posted to keep people out because of mine fields, quicksand or vicious beasts, so too these traffickers have been given ample notice to cease their evil practices.
He's right, though. He spoke of a very specific action that clearly violates Just War Theory - the killing of unarmed, non-threatening combatants. The Church has never supported orders of no quarters.
