On Saturday, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin confirmed that he tried to find a solution in Venezuela that would avoid bloodshed, including seeking an agreement with Nicolás Maduro and other representatives of the government. Police deployed to churches across Staten Island: On Friday morning, a man stormed the Eucharist at St Ann's Church in Dongan Hills, Staten Island, in the Archdiocese of New York. The police were called to the scene and attempted to escort the man out. The situation quickly escalated into a violent struggle at the altar table. Flowers were knocked over, forcing the priest to step aside. After breaking free and throwing punches at officers, the man was ultimately subdued with a Taser. He was arrested and taken to hospital for evaluation. This incident is the latest in a troubling series of crimes targeting Catholic churches across Staten Island.
