On November 5, Mark Miravalle, professor emeritus of theology and mariology at Franciscan University of Steubenville and president of the International Marian Association, responded on MotherOfAllPeoples.com to Tucho’s November 4 document Mater Populi Fidelis which attacks Marian titles common in the Catholic Church. The use of the title "Co-Redemptrix" Tucho stated that the title "Co-Redemptrix" is "not appropriate," despite its historical use by numerous popes. Miravalle questions whether this implies that past popes and many saints used an improper title. Tucho's document concludes that the title is allegedly "inappropriate" due to the need to often "re-explain" it. We should ask Tucho why he gave his note a Latin title "Mater Populi Fidelis" when his note was not written in Latin. And when he refers to "Mother of the Faithful People," is he aware that he's stating she isn't his mother because the Virgin was only given by Christ to the faithful Church, not to apostates, heretics, infidels, or those who reject the Messiah, like the Jews? Muslims who worship the false god Allah are included among the infidels. The Mother of God cannot be compared to a human mother, for she was “immaculately conceived” and therefore has a different foundation in grace and nature than all other human beings. As Catholics, we must accept this. Basically, all those who compare Mary to a normal human being are jealous of her, just as the serpent was jealous of man and stole from him what Mary always possessed. But why are we not happy about this wonderful mother who will defend us at the last moment when Christ stands before us as judge? She is the Advocata noster. Who is so crazy as to degrade his lawyer? He will find no defender at the moment of his death!
