Cardinal Joseph Zen, 93, of Hong Kong, responded publicly to an article by Fr. Han Qingping concerning the “retirement” of Bishop Zhang Weizhu of the Diocese of Xinxiang and the consecration of Bishop Li Jianlin. Fr. Han’s article described the replacement of the persecuted underground bishop with the state-recognized bishop as a positive sign of improving Sino-Vatican relations. He claimed that critics of the situation - implicitly referring to Cardinal Zen - were motivated by “stupidity,” “malice,” or a “distorted personality.” “This struck a nerve with me,” Cardinal Zen replied via his personal blog on December 11: “I don’t admit to being a ‘bad person’ or having a ‘personality disorder,’ but I am indeed ‘stupid’ enough to ‘take it personally.’” Zen also responded to Fr. Han’s reference to his criticism of the Synod on Synodality. He clarified that his description of “Church suicide behavior” does not refer to the synod as a whole or to synodality in general, but …More
Leo XIV received George Weigel in audience, today.
The "Mother of the true God" destroys the heresy of the religious indifferentism promoted by Prevost. Just ten years after the conquest of Mexico, the Blessed Virgin appeared in Tepeyac, Mexico. She used an Indian recently converted to the Catholic faith called Juan Diego on Tuesday, December 12, 1531 to bring out the idolatry of the Native Indians. She was presented as "the perfect ever Virgin Saint Mary, Mother of the true God" to make known the Gospel of her son Jesus Christ to the native Indians of the New Continent. ´Know thou, O my beloved child, that I am the Ever Virgin Mary, Mother of the true God, the Author of Life, Creator of all, the Lord of Heaven and Earth, Who is present everywhere´ Nine million inhabitants converted to Christianity. That for centuries they had professed a polytheistic religion and practiced the most cruel human sacrifices. One of the first Franciscan Fathers, Toribio de Benavente, affirmed in 1537, just six years after after the appearance of Our Lady …More
"23. And after a few years I was again in Britain with my parents [kinsfolk], and they welcomed me as a son, and asked me, in faith, that after the great tribulations I had endured I should not go anywhere else away from them. And, of course, there, in a vision of the night, I saw a man whose name was Victoricus coming as if from Ireland with innumerable letters, and he gave me one of them, and I read the beginning of the letter: “The Voice of the Irish”; and as I was reading the beginning of the letter I seemed at that moment to hear the voice of those who were beside the forest of Foclut which is near the western sea, and they were crying as if with one voice: “We beg you, holy youth, that you shall come and shall walk again among us.” And I was stung intensely in my heart so that I could read no more, and thus I awoke. Thanks be to God, because after so many years the Lord bestowed on them according to their cry."
[Saint Patrick - mid-fifth to early-sixth century; Roman Britain/Ireland; Missionary, Bishop; Apostle of Ireland] “20. The very same night while I was sleeping Satan attacked me violently, as I will remember as long as I shall be in this body; and there fell on top of me as it were, a huge rock, and not one of my members had any force. But from whence did it come to me, ignorant in the spirit, to call upon Helias? And meanwhile I saw the sun rising in the sky, and while I was crying out “Helias, Helias” with all my might, lo, the brilliance of that sun fell upon me and immediately shook me free of all the weight; and I believe that I was aided by Christ my Lord, and that his Spirit then was crying out for me, and I hope that it will be so in the day of my affliction, just as it says in the Gospel: “In that hour”, the Lord declares, “it is not you who speaks but the Spirit of your Father speaking in you.” 21. And a second time, after many years, I was taken captive. On the first night …More

“There have been endless dialogues with the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, but they simply circle around,” Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller told TheCatholicHerald.com on December 12. “There is no way around recognising the Second Vatican Council as the twenty-first Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church.” He added: “The claim that the Lefebvrists are the last bastion of true Catholicity must finally come to an end.” At the same time, Cardinal Müller acknowledged that the Fraternity has correctly identified “the wounds inflicted on the Body of Christ by self-appointed reformers in the style of Modernism.” But, he insisted, “there is never a justification for distancing oneself from the Catholic Church — even though the Church is a mixture of saints and sinners.” For Cardinal Müller, the moment has come for “all Catholics to reunite in the truth of Christ, who in the person of St Peter and his successor, Pope Leo XIV, has established an enduring principle and foundation of …More
“It is nothing other than a heretical attempt to replace the Christian understanding of the human person with gender ideology, and to present this corruption of doctrine to a naïve audience as its so-called ‘development’.” Dear Cardinal Mueller, What you say about the German Church, is also rampant throughout the entire Church today. Time to wake up and stop drinking your bath water. How can you defend a wonderful Church that elevates practitioners of The Cult of Maria Lionza to Sainthood, and by the way have no intentions of reversing it? Have you spoken up on this issue - of course not. Since Francis elevated you to a higher position, you are loyal to his rubbish. You also said this: For Cardinal Müller, the moment has come for “all Catholics to reunite in the truth of Christ, who in the person of St Peter and his successor, Pope Leo XIV, has established an enduring principle and foundation of unity.” Dear Cardinal Mueller - Would the Successor of Jesus Christ through the Apostle …More
"Any talk of God, Christ, or the sacraments, (in the German Synodal Church), he added, is merely ornamental -a pious veneer..." Bravo, Cardinal Muller, but strong words for the Pius X movement...
"What kind of unity do we actually want?", asked Cardinal Kurt Koch about ecumenism talking to Die Tagespost on 11 December. He explained that the Church and orthodox groups seek unity in terms of faith and sacraments. However, some Protestant groups envisage "unity" whereby each group remains as it is while recognising one another mutually. With the Orthodox, a consensus has yet to be reached, especially regarding the authority of the Pope. Cardinal Koch noted that a Pope seen merely as "primus inter pares" with no real authority "would only work in fair weather".
Ecumenism is a fool's errand. Each party views it differently. I was just speaking to priest about this the other day. He was gushing about Leo's recent trip to Turkey to "unite with the 'Orthodox'" When I pointed out that leaders of the majority of Orthodox churches [ex. Russia] declined to attend, he groused: Well if they want to act like that, they're "out of the church." He just couldn't see the contradiction in his position that the only 'unity' is under the modernist Vatican (but not in the traditional teaching of submission to the Roman See).
