An Italian woman whose parents were murdered in a brutal attack by an Ivorian asylum seeker a decade ago has accused the state of abandoning victims while prioritizing the rights and welfare of offenders, in an interview with Il Primato Nazionale. Rosita Solano, whose parents Vincenzo, 68, and Mercedes, 70, were killed in their home in Palagonia, Sicily, in August 2015, said she no longer feels like an Italian citizen because of what she described as a complete lack of protection and support for victims of violent crime. In the attack, Mamadou Kamara, an 18-year-old Ivorian asylum seeker housed at the Mineo reception center, broke into the couple’s home, beat Vincenzo Solano to death, raped Mercedes Solano, and threw her from a balcony while she was still alive. He had only been in Italy since for around two months, having arrived illegally on June 8. Kamara later returned to the reception center, where investigators found stolen belongings from the victims’ home. His life sentence …
Cardinals Cupich, McElroy and Tobin issued a joint letter today critiquing American foreign policy. The US is now in “the most profound and searing debate about the moral foundation for America’s actions in the world since the end of the Cold War. The events in Venezuela, Ukraine and Greenland have raised basic questions about the use of military force and the meaning of peace.”

Once I heard of a true story at a Catholic conference years ago where the child got out of parked car when the father had parked but the child got out on the busy road side where a car was driving and had no time to stop or react to child on road at the speed they were going; the father couldn't do anything and he just said JESUS and the car suddenly stopped before the child and child was unharmed. DO NOT doubt the POWER and AUTHORITY of the Name Jesus where ever knee shall bend and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord and God!

Our Holy Fathers Athanasios and Cyril, Sun Jan 18th "He has come into our country and dwelt in one body amidst the many, and in consequence the designs of the enemy against mankind have been foiled and the corruption of death, which formerly held us in its power, has simply ceased to exist. For the human race would have perished utterly had not the Lord and Savior of all, the Son of God, come among us to put and end to death." Saint Athanasios of Alexandria "And we are deified not by partaking of the body of some man, but by receiving the Body of the Word Himself." Saint Athanasios of Alexandria "May the life of Mary, who gave birth to God, be for all of you as instructive as if it were written down. Come to know yourselves in her and carry out the good works that you have neglected in the past." Saint Athanasios of Alexandria
» Saint Athanase d'Alexandrie

I’ve been meaning to write about this for some time, and better late than never. I encourage NLM readers to check out the initiative called the “Latin Mass Project,” which has a website as beautiful as its subject deserves. Their flagship publication, the first of many to come, is Ad Altare Dei: Pew Edition. This book contains the full texts of the Mass in Latin and English, explanations of those parts of the Mass which vary throughout the year, and clearly-marked rubrics. There are also boxes containing commentary on the gestures, prayers, and objects found within the Mass. The first edition having sold out, a second edition was prepared with several improvements: gold foil cover detail, gilded edges, sturdier hardcover binding, and a ribbon, among other touches. Each page features full-color photos taken at Old St. Patrick Oratory, the Institute’s apostolate in Kansas City, MO. Acclaimed by children and adults alike, this book is intended to be a beautiful, durable, and practical …
The French actress and sex symbol of the 1960s, Brigitte Bardot, aged 91, was laid to rest on 7 January after a funeral Eucharist in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera. Celebrated by the parish priest, the Novus Ordo service included mostly profane music, such as the score of Contempt, the 1963 Jean-Luc Godard film in which Bardot starred. On 17 January, Jeanne Smits published an obituary on LifeSiteNews.com, correcting journalists who had one-sidedly referred to a 2024 interview in which Bardot described herself as a 'traditionalist', recalling the Mass of her childhood. Denying Eternal Life Bardot was not a practising Catholic. Although she called herself a believer, she wrote in her 2018 autobiography Larmes de combat (Tears of Battle): "It's the afterlife that's awful; what the body becomes is dirty. I don’t know if life after death exists. I don't know, and I don't necessarily hope that it does. What kind of mess could await us on the other side? We might as well sleep. Forever..." …More
This is a tragedy. She grew up when the red-hot liberals were sneaking out of their demonic spaces and began invading the mainstream church. I am sure that many in her age group abandoned the church and have never come back.
As the years go by, you realize that real friendship isn’t about how many contacts you have in your phone or how many smiling photos you can post. It’s about the people who stay when everyone else quietly fades out. The ones who see your tears, your weaknesses, your defeats — and still hold your hand without letting go. True friends don’t need long explanations. One look is enough for them to know if you’re hurting or if you’re genuinely happy. And even in silence, there’s a warmth between you that speaks louder than words. Friends like that are a gift from God. There aren’t many of them — and that’s the point. One sincere friend is worth more than a hundred casual acquaintances. And as the years pass, you find yourself quietly thanking God for the few He left in your life — the ones you can walk through the darkest seasons with. Because friendship shaped by love and loyalty is a small glimpse of eternity in our very temporary world.
