Police have opened an investigation after the Sacré-Cœur parish church in Lourdes was vandalized on November 11. Officers found the main doors marked with graffiti reading “À mort Jésus-Christ” (“Death to Jesus Christ”) and “Sale race de Jésus-Christ” (“Dirty race of Jesus Christ”). The messages were removed, and no suspects have been identified. The attack comes amid rising anti-Christian incidents in France. In 2023, the country recorded nearly 1,000 of Europe’s 2,444 anti-Christian hate crimes. Church arson attacks rose by over 30 percent in 2024, and authorities logged 322 anti-Christian acts between January and May 2025, a 13 percent increase from the previous year.

It would be interesting to ask a legit canonist if the sacrament was actually conferred. In my mind, I would wonder if this man had proper intent. Was he "joining" the Church for reasons of the actual Faith or to make some political statement or attention-seeking stunt?
Longtime high school history teacher Jim McMurtry was suspended in May 2021 after commenting on unmarked graves at Indigenous residential schools while teaching at Robert Bateman Secondary School in Abbotsford, British Columbia. During a class discussion, he mentioned that most deaths in Indigenous residential schools were due to disease. They were claimed by Madeleine Aumont between 1972 and 1978. The message of Dozulé is the request to build a 738-metre-high, 123-metre-wide luminous cross, called the Glorious Cross, which would be visible from afar as a symbol of universal redemption and a sign of the allegedly imminent return of Christ.
